Weekend Run - 14km (dodging the rain!)
dannewton just finished a 14.17km run, that lasted for 84 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 1472.4 calories.
Description from Strava: So, I planned to go for a run yesterday, but it didn't quite pan out that way in the end. First I got up late, and then decided to pop to the shops. At lunchtime I thought I had a quick opportunity to head outside, and then my partner wanted to catch up. She is working on Sunday due to a last minute rota change, so we talked on saturday instead. And then after that I went and visited parents for the rest of the afternoon.
This resulted in the 'weekend run' being moved to today instead, except when checking the weather forecast I discovered that it was due to be wet all flippin' day!
Just look at that, heavy thundery showers predicted all day!
I tried to go out at 7am before all the rain started, but promptly over slept my alarm... by the time I awoke at 9am, it was already torrential. Just not worth going outside.
I don't mind it being a bit damp, and I don't mind if it starts raining during the run, but there was no point going out when the rain had already started.
So instead I pottered around the house, washing the pots and doing the ironing. At 1pm, I noticed that not only had the rain stopped, but there was a hint of blue sky in the distance... this was the chance I was waiting for!
I immediately got changed and headed outside. I had already ran 25km this week, so today I only really needed to do between 10-12km (taking a break from the half Marathon that I have completed on the last 3 weekends). As there was still rain forecast, I chose to keep close to home and ran laps around the village. This way there would be plenty of shelter, plus if it got to bad, I could just cut it short and head home.
In the end, I needn't have worried. The rain held off, and I managed to complete 2 full laps, plus a smaller lap for a total of 14km
Run completed, I can now go back and finish the ironing...
I hate ironing... probably my least favorite chore each week 😒

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

Lovely british weather 🤭😂
It was a wet day, so you did well to get out. I can be put off if it's raining heavily before I start. You're really crunching the miles, so those legs must be pretty mighty now.
