Lunch Walk - 7km (a bimble into town, and running some errands)
dannewton just finished a 6.98km walk, that lasted for 83 minutes.
This walk helped dannewton burn 618.0 calories.
Description from Strava: Still a distinct lack of running due to the injury. Decided to walk into town for exercise, plus needed to get a few bits in town. The Lincoln Watch Clinic was open today (it was shut last Sunday), and I spoke to the watch repair guy who said he was 90% sure that he would be able to replace the strap on the watch I want, so I will now order the watch so I can take it into him.
I also picked up some christmas cards in card factory, so xmas shopping has officially begun!
I was going to walk home, but the bus was leaving at the same time, so I decided to hop on and get home quicker. I have a bus pass via a salary sacrifice scheme at work, and I use it during the week for travelling to the office. It is is fully paid for the month, which means I can use it on Saturdays and Sundays if needed.
Full post to follow later...
Its the weekend whoop whoop! And it is also the start of my holiday as I have the whole of next week off, so thats even better!
I would have headed up to parkrun today, but the hip is still annoying, and to be honest really needed to head into town. I went into town last Sunday, and wanted to talk to the watch repair guy, but the shop was closed.
After a lazy morning, I gathered my stuff together and headed out. It was quite a nice day out (well, for this time of year at least!) and I fancied getting some fresh air.
The first stop was off course to visit the watch repair man, and he was open today...
The problem I have is that my Dad wants the watch below, but doesn't like the metal straps on these, and would prefer a leather one. I thought it should be fairly easy to get it replaced, but after a quick google I wasn't able to find a definitive answer
When I asked the guy, he asked for a picture, and when I showed him this, he advised that he can change the straps on most watch's, and that he was 90% certain he would be able to do so on this one.
So I'm gonna take a chance on this one and order it this evening. Hopefully it will come in the post quickly, and I can pop back into town this week with it to get it sorted. If it works out, then it will be my Dad's Xmas present.
Speaking of which, next on my list was cards:
I hate Card shopping by the way, they are either really soppy and ridiculous, or they look cheap and crude. It always takes me longer than expected to pick out something that is vaguely suitable, but after 20 minutes or so I managed to pick out 4 that were not totally awful. One for my brother and his wife, one for my niece, one for Dad, and finally one for my partner
After that I headed next door into Heron for some cheap snacks
If you don't know, Heron Foods is similar to Iceland, mostly selling Frozen food, and with other grocery items too. Its cheaper than Iceland, and often has limited time special offers. I picked all 5 of these Grenade protein bars for just 79 pence each (Usual price is approx 2.45 each!)
ANd that was my shopping done lol. I didn't need a great deal in town, and I enjoyed as much for the walk as well as getting ahead on xmas shopping.
It was time to head for home, and as it was approaching lunchtime I decided to pick up a Chicken Pasty from Greggs, you know, to keep my energy levels up and all that!
While walking down the High Street, I noticed that the bus home (Number 1) was actually right behind me, and in a moment of weakness/laziness I decided to hop on the bus instead. I have a bus pass via a salary sacrifice scheme at work, and I use it during the week for travelling to the office. It is is fully paid for the month, which means I can use it on Saturdays and Sundays if needed. And this then means that my travel is always paid for, so I can just hop on a bus and not need to worry about digging out change... its really useful!
Now that I'm home, its time to go order that watch. I also need to finish off my Job Application (there is a chance of a promotion in my office, which gives a useful pay rise if successful. There was a similar vacancy last year which I was unable to get, so fingers crossed I have more luck this time round.
Tomorrow I'm meeting my Dad to go food shopping, and then I've got some chorse to catch up on. I was thinking about a run tomorrow, but decided its not worth the effort as I will be seeing the physio on Monday. Fingers crossed, that she can sort out my hip issue, or at least identify what the issue, as that would be a good start. I'll update you on Monday afternoon with her diagnosis and (hopefully) a solution too

I'm trying not to think about Xmas yet. I need to get in some walks soon when I can as I hurt my back and so can't run for a while.
Well I don't have a great deal to buy for Xmas this year, and its gonna be a weird one anyway as my Mum passed away back in March, not really looking forward to it, but I need to start getting organized anyway.
Sorry to hear your back is hurting as well, is that related to your hip injury, or has it come from somewhere else?

Sorry about your mum. I'm lucky to still have my parents.
My back just went in the shower. I feel cheated as I wasn't doing anything I'd expect to hurt it.
Thank you. It was cancer, short and aggressive... the worst thing was that she had only just turned 62, taken far too soon.
oh man, what a rubbish way to pick up an injury!
