dannewton just finished a 12.27km run, that lasted for 74 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 922.0 calories.

Description from Strava: As I had previously expected, yesterday was a very long day, and all part of helping my partner move her stuff pack to Carlisle in preparation to starting her 2nd year of Uni. This involved playing Car Tetris on Saturday afternoon to get all of the stuff in the car, and then an early night.

At 6:30am on Sunday we were up to finish loading the car, and checking we had everything, before leaving the house just after 8:00am. The car journey was relatively uneventful so we made good time and arrived at Carlisle University just after 12:00.

4 hours to travel 200 odd miles and including a break at a services is pretty good going.

After she spoke to the accommodation team to get her keys, we then spent 45 minutes carrying all her stuff up 3 flights of stairs. After that it didn't take to long to get her room sorted, and get all the stuff put away. We had driven up in the rain, and of course unloaded the ca in the rain too, but once we had finished, the weather was starting to clear up.

By the time I was getting ready to walk to the Train Station, the sun had come out, so Dawn walked with me, and showed me a more scenic route then I had originally picked

Walking down into Rickerby Park...

and then we took a bridge over the River Eden...

before dropping down and taking an pedestrian underpass to avoid the busy roads

This then opened up onto the High Street of Carlisle itself, which appeared to be reasonably busy with a decent selection of shops (certainly puts Lincolns 'High Street' to shame!

After saying our goodbyes, and wishing her luck for the new Semester, it was time for me to on the first of 3 separate train journeys

Train Journey No.1 - Northern - Carlisle to Newcastle - 16:20 - 17:45

I had got on the wrong end of the train, so it took me 10 minutes of squeezing past people before I eventually arrived at my seat!

Train Journey No.2 - LNER - Newcastle to Newark - 18:29 - 20:21

Train Journey No.3 - East Midlands Railway - Newark to Lincoln - 20:28 - 20:51

After the relative 'luxury' of the two previous trains, the 3rd and final train left a little to be desired, and looked grubby and generally uncared for. It was only for 20 minutes or so, so I survived.

Once finally in Lincoln, my Dad picked my up from the station, so I eventually made it home just after 9pm. It had taken 13 hours to cover over 400 miles, but I was finally back home.

This was the reason I had booked a couple of days of work to rest and catch up on all the jobs I had missed out on. I actually managed a lay in off almost a hour this morning a rare treat!

It also meant that todays run definitely needed to be an easier session than usual:

I had planned for around 16km (ie 10 miles) but I didn't have that in me today! However this little route through Waddington and along Brant Road was pleasant enough, and after what seemed like 10 hours sat down on various forms of transport, it felt really good to get the legs moving this morning.

For the rest of the day I will be doing a little bit of pottering about... there's a bit of ironing to do, and I need strip the bed and wash the sheets, but on the whole I'll be taking it as easy as I can get away with!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

Its a beautiful location, I'm slightly jealous of my partner being able to stay there for the next 8 months... lots of lovely places to walk up in the hills
