Description from Strava: Trying to get back into the groove....
Coming back from taking a week off from running. The break wasn't planned (esp with the Boston race in 4 weeks time) but I've had stuff going on in the background. After struggling and trying to do carry on as normal, everything came to a head and I needed take time to myself to process it all.
It wasn't an easy decision as running is something that not only do I thoroughly enjoy it, but the time spent outside and moving helps me to relax, and to process what's happened each day (both the good and the bad). I finally had to admit that, forcing myself outside each day was not helping, and that I needed to focus on other priorities.
That was 8 days ago. I've since taken a few days off work as well (and I appreciate how lucky I am to have that option available), and I've also spent time talking to various people (mostly close friends and family) ad I'm feeling a little better for it.
It also helps that my partner has come home for a week as part of the Easter holiday... and she always knows how to make me feel better
Today was the first day since last Thursday that I actually wanted to go and run outside. Not wanting to put any pressure on myself, I just laced up my shoes and headed outside, aiming to do an hour or so of slow easy stuff. I did feel rusty and clunky, but thats was sort off expected really, but at least I got it done.
The fact that it is Good Friday here in the UK (which means the start of a 4 day weekend) definitely helps, and means I will have plenty more time to focus on my head back in the right place
The weather today was sunny intervals and heavy showers... the run started in the wet, had glorious sunshine for 20 minutes in the middle, and finished with heavy rain and strong winds. Tomorrow should hopefully be a longer run, with the promise of beautiful sunshine.... considering how changeable its been recently, I won't get my hopes up haha!!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

Great to see your back into it. A week off might even help your running too.
This will be the first holiday break in ages we have not gone away, I think I will actually enjoy catching up on a heap of house and yard chores that never seem to get done. Enjoy your Easter break,

The break would probably be of some benefit, but kinda need to get back into it sooner rather than later... problem is that I've now managed to pick up a snotty cold 🤧, so will be a couple more days before I can get back into it.
Its nice to have some time at home isn't? Able to take it easy and relax (and catch up on a few chores at the same time).
Happy Easter

.I’m glad you’re planning to use the weekend to settle down and get yourself again. The good thing is that it is a long weekend so we can have more time to rest and do other things
We've been waiting for you. You're here after a long day, but it's good that you've resumed your walking routine.
That was really a massive run you engaged into and that is great to see
