Description from Strava:
Another wet and windy Wednesday!

Although not as wet as it was last wednesday to be fair

In fact I was mostly bothered about the wind... I checked the weather forecast:

Looks if I get out early I should be able to get done before the worst of the rain and wind. And as luck would have it, I was working from home today, so was able to log of sharp at 4.15pm.

Without an hesitation I quickly got changed and headed outside bang on 4:30. I had also made a quick decision regarding my route today. Instead of my semi-regular jaunt down to Coleby and back, which features lots of wide open countryside and is quite exposed to the wind, I stuck to loops around the village.

The was still wind here, but at least I got some shelter from it. The biggest issue is that running into a strong headwind requires significantly more effort, and that in turn raises my heart rate. As it happens, my heart rate was still over the limit for majority of the run, but the choice was either walking or just getting it done. I only had a small window of opportunity anyway as I was due to talk to my partner later this evening.

The village loops are a handy distance at just under 6km, and 3 loops made a relatively nice (and slightly windswept) 17km.

It was just around various housing estates, which all look much the same so I didn't bother taking many pictures and in the end just got it done.

I finished the 3rd loop as it was getting dark, and not a moment too soon as about 10 minutes later the heavens opened, so I guess the luck is on my side for once!

Also worth mentioning an update on my distance running goal. I originally aimed for 2023km in 2023, but I've missed that due to injury. I then had a more realistic goal of 1500km, and I've been playing catchup to reach it. As of this evenings run I've now moved ahead of the plan to reach that goal.

Whoop whoop!

With 10 weeks left of the year to run 300km, that works out at a required target of 30km per week to reach the target. And as I'm currently averaging a weekly distance of 50-60km, thats going to be pretty easy.

If I wanted to reach the 2023 target then that would require 80km per week, I'm just not ready for that yet!

It does make me wonder what I could've achieved if the injury never happened... but I guess I'll never know now. All I can do is keep training and pushing and see where I end up.

Another run done, and another pleasent evening spent catching up with my partner. Tomorrow I'm back in the office, and will have a little recovery run tomorrow evening. Then a rest day on Friday before the standard long run on Saturday.

I'm still not sure where I'm going on saturday yet, or even how far I want to go for this time. Perhaps its best to aim for a distance for and then I can work out where to go haha!

I think it will be better for you to decide on where you want to go on Saturday so you won't be looking or acting confused
I wish you well and I'm glad you had a great run!

You are right, I don't want to be confused! 🤣

I needed to plan something prior to the long run on Saturday. I ended up picking a vague route, but changed it a little at the last minute

The run is quite far. That is more like 2 hours run. I can't remember the last time I went for a 30 Minutes run before

Yes, no doubt running against the wind requires more effort and power, and it slows your speed but you did great by running 17 kilometres. Glad to know the luck is on your side, best of luck for the future run.

I myself very much enjoy walking in such weather and the time seems to pass so beautifully without realizing it.

Well done on missing the bad weather. 40mph winds would make running difficult and possibly dangerous. The weather is so random lately. Running through the winter can be challenging anyway, but we need to keep it up.

The wind would've been dangerous at 40mph. I really hate running in the wind by the way, its really hard work! If I could choose between strong winds or heavy rain, then I'd choose rain everytime!
