The undefeated Miami Dolphins fall 15-27 against the Cincinatti Bengals and Tua got hurt again
Whiteout in Cincy ππ¬π
Last night was my most anticipated game of the 2022 NFL season so far. On schedule for Thursday Night Football was the undefeated Miami Dolphins, led by their QB Tua Tagovailoa and his lethal WR duo of Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle VERSUS Joe Burrow and the Cincinatti Bengals. They have struggled to win so far this season.
This QB matchup may bring back memories of the LSU/Burrow vs. Alabama/Tua game where Bama was narrowly defeated 46-41 on Nov. 9, 2019. That and the fact that the Dolphins were one of two undefeated teams left (PHI Eagles are the other) and the Bengals (who made it to the Super Bowl last year) lost their first two games of the season. There was a lot lining up to make this an exciting game.
I can't tell you the last time I watched an entire football game from kickoff to the final play. Thursday night games are easily accessible on Amazon's Prime Video, so I typically try to watch at least some of the game before the busy weekend starts. Surely this would be worth watching.
The Bengals were sporting their fancy white helmets and all-white uniforms on this night, and the crowd was encouraged to do the same to create the whiteout effect. The Dolphin's teal jerseys are my favorite in the league, so aesthetically this was my kind of game. Plus, I'd say these are easily my two favorite teams in the league with cool players like Jaylen Waddle/The Penguin and Tyreek Hill/The Cheetah.
Last week's Dolphins game versus the Bills was exciting until the very end. Somehow the Fins managed to defeat the 2022 Super Bowl favorites down in the spicy heat of Flordia and the league was starting to wonder who could take down Miami.
Even though Joe Burrow didn't have quite the game that Josh Allen did last week, it was still enough to propel the Bengals to victory. The Bengals offensive line finally figured out how to protect their QB and give him a chance to pass the ball. Burrow threw 20/31, had 287 Yds, and threw two TDs with 0 Ints. Not a bad game by any stretch, but it's hard to compare with Josh Allen throwing 42/63 with 400 Yds last week against the Dolphins. The big difference here is that the Bengals won and the Bills lost.
The game was extremely tight midway through the 2nd Quarter. Then the worst thing happened, Tua had a scary head injury (much like last week), except this time instead of coming back into the game he was rushed to the hospital as a precaution. It sounds like he is going to be okay and should be back to playing very soon, but he was unable to finish the game and the Dolphins were forced to rely on backup QB Teddy Bridgewater to keep their hopes of winning alive.
Luckily for Bridgewater, he still had Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle who are almost certainly the best WR duo. That's just his first two options, there are several other guys on the field that should be considered serious threats. This gave him plenty of options in terms of receivers and he was able to throw 1 TD. He also managed to throw an INT which made it pretty much impossible for the Dolphins to remain victorious.
Even though the Dolphins didn't win this game, I still think that the league should be in fear of the Cheetah and the Penguin, especially if Tua can stay healthy and solidify this offense as one of the best in the league.
As for the Bengals, I see them having another solid year now that they are back in the groove. Burrow seems confident that he can lead the team to victory and that will take them far througout the regular season.
My dad and brother both are big Bengals fans. I was sent a photo of my father before the game started and you could tell he was hoping that his Bengals would upset the Dolphins. Wish granted!
NFL Week 4 continues on Sunday π
This season is still just getting started and there are many more exciting games this week. The stand out games for me are Bills @ Ravens, Jaguars @ Eagles, and Chiefs @ Buccaneers.
Which team are you rooting for this year? Do you have any Super Bowl predictions? I would love to know, so comment below if you want to get any conversation about NFL going.

Your dad will be very much excited about the win
My dad and brother both are surely pleased. I think both teams will have a solid season this year.
I really like American Football but they must do something to avoid concussions but I imagine that due to the physicality of the game it will be impossible. My favorite team is the Steelers but I would sincerely like to see Tom Brady's Bucs win again and that he will finally retire as a champion
Especially after this latest incident with Tua, they are going to have to figure something out to protect all of that talent in the NFL. I get that they are getting paid millions of dollars to play and with that comes risk, but surely someone can think of something that will protect players more without ruining the sport entirely.
I know many Steelers fans, but I've never been big on Pittsburgh outside of Wiz Khalifa's song "Black and Yellow".
As great as Tom Brady's legacy has been, I'm ready to see him retire for good.
I donβt think Tua is going to be back at 100% after that injury. He needs to take a month or two off so that he doesnβt get any long lasting damage to his brain.
By next game, probably not. I get that they want to win early, but at what cost. Could always save him for the second half of the season and give him time to get readjusted for the playoffs.
I am hoping that they dont rush him back into the game and he ends up with some severe brain damage. This is the reason why so many old NFL players are suing the NFL.
Same. I know Iβd hate to be in that situation. Iβm happy to just be able to watch from the comfort of my couch and not have to worry about some crazed giant messing up my brain.
Same. Hopefully the Raiders do well this weekend.
Tua really got hurt again.
Sadly it happened. I donβt think he had fully recovered from the last head injury.
Joe Burrow is a fluke imo.. at least last year was.. Tua retires at end of season with 12 concussions.. becomes spokesman for Jerry's Kids. Those linemen won't be getting no Isotoners in their stockings this Christmas..
#rockthedoublenegative
Wouldnβt surprise me if that were the case considering the Bengals luck with QBs over the years.
Would suck if that happened to Tua, but if he keeps going right back to playing while still recovering, then he might have issues. I know the linemen have to feel pretty bad about letting him get hit like that.
the Bengals will surely repeat the Superbowl and by 2023 they will most likely win it
You think so? Iβm not convinced. I think theyβd have to get pretty lucky to make it to the Super Bowl again.
of course yes with a bit of luck it can be repeated and win it now
We shall see.
πͺπππ€ yea, I'm not a real big sports fan, but after UFC, i would say NFL is my next favorite thing to watch...
I used to be a fan of the Raiders (just based on the cool colors and logo), but are they even still a team?
I'm conflicted, cuz u got dolphins.. so hive! π¬π¬π¬ but then I was born in the year of the tiger and have always liked tigers. π π π Can it be a tie?? :P
It'd be cool if those teams made it to superbowl tho..! :)
Raiders are a team, they just moved to Vegas. Sounds to me like you should just be a fan of all three teams πβοΈπ¬π
