Brentford took advantage of their set-piece opportunity in the final minute of the first half as Ethan Pinnock scored a brilliant header to make the scoreline 1-0 at halftime.

Manchester United restored parity in the 47th minute of the game as Alejandro Garnacho found the back of the net with a fine finish. Rasmus Hojiund gave Manchester United the lead in the 62nd minute of the game as he drove a brilliant shot past the Brentford goalkeeper to make the scoreline 2-1. The Red Devils held on to their lead as they secured a slim 2-1 victory at full-time.

Tottenham on the other hand returned to winning ways in the competition when they hosted West Ham United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs came out with an astonishing performance in the match as they convincingly defeated West Ham United 4-1 thanks to goals from Son Heung-Min, Yves Bissouma, Dejan Kulusevski, and an own goal from Alphonse Areola.
