Real Madrid Faces Setback as Key Player Likely to Miss El Clasico
Real Madrid added another thrilling comeback to their Champions League saga on Tuesday night. Despite being two goals down at halftime against Borussia Dortmund, a hat-trick from Vinicius Junior, and goals from Lucas Vazquez and Antonio Rudiger, turned the game around for a morale-boosting win ahead of El Clasico this weekend. However, the victory came at a cost as one of their star players might miss the crucial clash against Barcelona.
Rodrygo Goes, who has had a relatively quiet start to the season, proved his importance once again during the match. His persistence paid off when he kept the ball in play before Vazquez’s third goal. Unfortunately, this effort resulted in an injury, and he was seen grimacing in pain during the celebrations before limping off the field.
According to Diario AS, Rodrygo experienced a sharp pain in his thigh. He is scheduled for a scan on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury but is expected to miss the highly anticipated El Clasico on Saturday night.
"Muscle injury. He made a spectacular run for the third goal… It’s a shame, but it is what it is," Real Madrid's coach Carlo Ancelotti commented post-match, sounding resigned to the situation.
