The Spirit of the Yellow Wall in Paris
The section known as the south tribune of the Dortmund stadium (Sudtribune) and called the "yellow wall", where passionate fans instill fear in the opponent, is known to everyone who follows football closely.
For myself, I would like to say that I will remember them (Sudtribune) for their post-championship appearance in the last match they missed last year. Dortmund technical staff, players and yellow wall; They applauded each other and experienced the disappointment of the championship run away in tears together.
This was a situation I was not used to seeing because after the championships were missed, most fans became angry and lost their anger control; harms the environment. The yellow wall, on the other hand, cried and consoled its football players who lived through the drama!
Maybe they got the reward of that day's consolation today!
Today, the second semi-final match of the Champions League was played in Paris. Dortmund won the match, especially the last moments of which were breathtaking, 1-0 and made its way to the final. Eliminating a team like PSG, which has adopted attack-based football, by beating them in both matches and without conceding a goal cannot be explained only by the struggle on the field.
There are many reasons for this. Extra motivation for the Champions League final, which every team and its players want to reach, giving all their strength to the field and taking the luck factor with them are just a few of them.
Apart from all these, there are moments that are difficult to explain. It is sometimes believed that the ball has life and does not want to meet the net. You do your best throughout the match, but that goal you cannot score pushes you out of the tournament.
Many things can be said for PSG, which did its best to score goals in both matches and be the side that reached the final of the Champions League.
He was unlucky - he was incompetent - he wasn't good enough - he was inadequate in the last shots...
It can produce many more reasons, but each of them; It will be the moments that are difficult to explain, put into words.
Tonight, PSG's 4 balls hit the posts and he clearly stated that he did not want to score a goal. In the first match, two of his balls hit the post. Thus, a total of 6 balls hit the posts and changed the name of the final.
Dortmund instead of PSG!
Apart from the balls coming off the post, almost every shot by PSG players hit the Dortmund defense and came back. It was as if a power outside of football was not allowing PSG to score and did not want to upset the yellow wall!
In the end, the yellow wall was not the saddest, but the happiest fan group of the night. I can already say that the yellow wall created a barrier in front of the Dortmund goal throughout the match, but I cannot prove it! Indeed, the spirit of the yellow wall was in Paris and Dortmund blocked its goal.
I don't know if there is any other explanation for the fact that every shot taken in the last moments of the match was returned by the defense. Moreover, in some of these, PSG players deliberately opened their way and kicked the ball. Despite this, the ball did not go to the net, it did not want to go!
Briefly, the summary of the match is that the spirit of the yellow wall is in Paris and prevents PSG from scoring. I believe that the trauma they experienced last season was effective in the emergence of such a power today. The power that wanted to make them sad that day (last season) wanted to make them happy today!
And they did! The happiest fan in the world right now is Dortmund fan!
