Definitivamente no.

Loaning out of pity: The sure path to frustration

A good end of the month and start of a great week to all

Dear reader, with this post you will identify yourself as either the debtor or the lender. Read on...

¿How many times have you lent money in the hope of being paid back and ended up with excuses instead of bills? ¿Has it ever happened to you that, out of pity or out of helpfulness, you end up being the one who gets hurt? We have all been there at one time or another and, unfortunately, the reality is clear: if you lend money to someone who has no intention of paying back, you are giving away your effort and sacrifice.

This phrase is a golden rule that many people learn the hard way. Lending money to the wrong person not only puts your financial stability at risk, but it also wears down relationships. It's frustrating to have to keep collecting, receiving vague answers or, worse, having the debtor simply disappear as if the debt never existed.

So ¿what do you do? Apply this rule firmly: don't lend money if you already know you won't get it back. It's not about being selfish, it's about being realistic. People who don't pay back tend to repeat the same pattern over and over again. If they have failed you before, they will fail you again. Learning to say “NO” is a way to protect yourself.

Imagine someone asks to borrow money from you and, even though deep down you know they won't pay you back, you agree out of pity. Then time passes and the money is never returned. Now you are the one facing frustration, anger and helplessness. ¿Is it worth it to keep falling into the same trap? Definitely not.

Responsible people seek to honor their commitments. If someone really values your help, they will go out of their way to repay you. If they don't, you know what you really mean to that person. Instead of continuing to lose money, invest it in yourself, in your growth, in new opportunities.

Starting today, take control. Apply this rule hard. Do not become the bank of the irresponsible. Remember: money does not grow on trees and your effort is not to be thrown away.

¡Thank you for reading and following us on this path of learning and financial growth!

NOTE: This is what the images used in this post represent:

A scene of financial tension between two women. One holds out her hand expecting to receive money, while the other, with a serious gesture, folds her arms or puts away her purse, showing distrust. The lighting highlights the expression of doubt and firmness in a neutral, professional setting.
