Sports Stars Should Stay Out Of Politics

source

Two weeks ago Marie Le Pen's anti immigration party won every jurisdiction besides Paris which is not that surprising as one would expect more migrants and liberals in Paris than anywhere else.

Kylan Mbappe the French footballer and capatai of the team spoke out in a press conference that he does not recognise France anymore and he would not represent a country that supported anti immigration laws. He called on his fellow countrymen to not support and vote for Le Pen. Wilfred Tsonga, Thierry Henry and the athlete Mary-Jose Perec had similar messages urging young voters to not support Le Pen. What has not gone unnoticed is they all have mixed back grounds and a definite conflict of interest.

The current sports minister praised their actions and again his job is on the line and dare say the outgoing Prime Minister Macron asked for their help. This is overstepping the line and one sure way to lose the support you once had as politics, sport and religion do not mix very well. What is obvious is the French Government has put these sports stars up to this acting as their mouth piece. This is not about whether you agree or disagree with what is taking place but the use of sporting personalities to spread a message is clearly over stepping the mark.

When is it ok for any sports personality to take sides politically because this is far different from just supporting a candidate and showing up at a specific political function. To actually make a political statement when the entire country is thinking quite the opposite says it all about the person.

People in general are not anti immigration and it needs to be controlled as in you as the migrant are adding value to society through the skills you bring. The open borders allowing mainly one religion into the country is problematic and why people have turned.

Mbappe being from mixed a mixed back ground born in Paris will definitely think and feel differently from the French even though he is French. With him expressing his views so openly at the start of a big international tournament is irresponsible because it takes away from the sporting event being the Euro's 24. Would the Government have used the rugby players in the same way had this been the World Cup?

UEFA and FIFA have clamped down on political issues with stupid things in the past like the England team not allowing a poppy on their kit for a match held on remembrance day. Will they fie him for tis statement he made or will he face sanction from being banned for x amount of matches because he should. We know nothing will happen to him and why there are double standards, but if another player did this from another country there would be trouble.

What has been said by the captain of their team could easily divide a dressing room because everyone has their views, but never publicly states what they feel. Everyone has their own opinion and why we vote for certain candidates and why if a certain party performs badly it is normally down to their actions or non actions.

The map of France tells us where current sentiment lies and this will not change within the next two weeks when the general elections are held. This has been coming for some time and should not be a big surprise to anyone. This same sentiment is how Europe is feeling and is not just a French thing either.

You cannot take sides when you are an entertainer like they are. The fans in an around about way pay your salary.

Fact is that 80 % of the French selection of the Euro 2024 championship is of not native French origin.
Mbappé and his fellow teammates are getting scared, and that’s the reason behind his recent political talk.

Yes I think that is rather obvious to see and why Macron can pull the strings asking them to speak out. If a white sporting star spoke out it would have a bigger impact, but that will not happen.

I agree bro, athletes have a huge influence, and when they speak out on politics, it can mess things up too much. They should stick to sports to keep the focus on the game instead of where they don't belong period
