OCD Sportstalk Incubation Curation Update
Hello everyone and welcome to another Sportstalk OCD Curation Update where we look back at the the previous week to see how the tribe is growing. A healthy tribe is an active tribe through quality of posts and engagement. Having interesting different and varied content is that important which we are currently lacking. There is not enough varied original content so we need new users which will bring what is missing.
Plus 36 new subscribers this week which is on par with what tribes around us on the OCD incubation list are achieving. I find it strange that Hive in general had a massive growth period last month and now it has seemingly cooled down.
This week we had 19 posts submitted for the extra curation with 3 being rejected for various reasons. If you are lucky enough to receive an OCD vote there is a limit of 2 per week in order to make the support open and fair for everyone.
Original content will always be rewarded and stand out compared to a re spun news story. This should be obvious yet the sportstalk tribe is full of articles which can be found in all the media. I catch up my sports news daily so know what is original and what isn't and honestly don't even read the spun articles anymore. If that is what you do then I suggest changing and adding your own input instead of spamming with useless news everyone already knows and has read elsewhere.
Sometimes you wonder why you put effort into posts when deep down you know only a handful read what you have written. A 3 or 4 minute read with an average of just over a minute viewing tells you that maybe only a few are learning and paying attention.
It is not surprising we are still having issues with Getty images being used and spamming news articles we have read elsewhere multiple times boring the sports and Hive community to death.
Choosing the right topic makes a huge difference as if we take @wolfgangsport as a prime example of this. @wolfgangsport is relatively new on Hive yet is earning decent rewards through the original work he produces. Not only are his posts original, but has kept quality and consistency which means time and effort with plenty of thought going into every article. This is how you grow and using spun news articles is never going to make you stand out and the total opposite to what @wolfgangsport is doing.
If you want to stand out and make a name for yourself there is no better time than now as when Hive and Sportstalk take off with all the other tribes many will be left behind with no support. I have seen this happen before and it will happen again as support is never guaranteed.
I have run out of any ideas for a new sporting topic and if anyone has any suggestions we can use in April it would be appreciated. Just leave a comment and for the best suggestions they will receive a bonus of 100 000 sport tokens. Who doesn't like free money and wonder how many will read this far.
Thanks once again to @ocd for their continued support as it is much appreciated. If you have some hive you would like to delegate please consider @ocdb as they do so much for the communities on Hive. For this you would receive a payout everyday in Hive. Until next week stay busy and engage as much as possible.

I liked to understand a situation.
Using 9 images, which are copyrighted, in a post with more than 1200 words causes a post to be rejected in the curation initiative.
However, using youtube videos that also have image rights is no longer refused?
I just wanted to know as rules for me not to be investing hours writing a post and happens what happened with my last post.
No you are missing the point. I could not submit your post because you used those images and if I did then it says that there is no problem with copyright abuse. Getty has been a known no go area for years and this is how it is. Your post was good but unfortunately was disqualified for the use of the wrong images. This has happened to many of us and now you know if you didn't beforehand. Tonight there are a few posts again that used Getty and is something we cannot allow. 2 years ago there was downvoting happening due to the abuse and it disappeared but could easily come back again. How many youtube video posts get curated?
No, I am not missing the point.
I feel frustrated that I made a quality post and it was not taken into account.
Besides, I didn't even know about this new position on the use of images.
I didn't even know what had happened before since that I've only been on Hive for 1 year.
My point is that I made a post after this decision, which I didn't even know about, and the decision was soon not to accept the post regardless of whether it had quality or not.
Do you really want me to list posts that contain youtube videos that were accepted in the curatorship initiative?
There are at least 2 posts that fit this situation.

I know I will hurt myself more than I will gain by raising these questions but I couldn't keep quiet after feeling frustrated and seeing that other posts with content with half my words and with copyright were accepted while mine was simply rejected.
(maybe we should talk about this on discord)
I am not going to argue with you over something that has been in place for years. You are not hurting yourself as I cannot put forward something that has been clear and has been raised on numerous occasions over the last 6 months. Unfortunately your post couldn't be submitted no matter how good it was and you are not the first person this has happened to. Youtube I have no issues with as this has never been raised before and have no clue if ok or not. Getty is one company who offers no flexibility as they sell their images and control 99% of all football images. I have seen charities being sued by them and we earn from these posts so we have to be careful.
I will not continue to discuss this issue either as this will lead nowhere.
I'm not asking for my post to be considered, I'm just questioning the rules because they didn't seem clear to me.
As I said, I haven't been here for years so it's normal that I don't know anything about this subject and as I had never been warned in any post, I had no problem using these images.
Getty sues other companies? Youtube takes down channels for using copyrighted images/videos and wants to monetize them.
I will stop this here because for those who make a decision this is not worrying.
There was a post tonight that couldn't be put through as well and this is what it is and cannot bend rules because the post is good. Many don't use images anymore and use some other type of header especially for football posts.
For the fact that quality content is surely going to be rewarded, I think this should bring more people in but then, one can't get the rewards on daily basis and for me, I see sport as a niche so wide and for me being a dedicated lover of soccer, I find it quite hard to relate when it comes to other sports and just like that my engagements on daily basis doesn't really pop much.
@cryptoandcoffee thanks for the shout out. I've made a point to post something everyday so far this year and mixing it up helps to keep the creative juices flowing. Also a great way to learn things I never knew before.
I have missed this community @sportstalksocial.
Well done in the way you have been handling this community @cryptoandcoffee.
Thank you so much for your support and it's not surprising to see the community grow. I always enjoy @wolfgangsport posts. The consistency and the quality are top notch.
I would suggest "Football Injuries" to be the topic we can explore for April. It came to mind especially after Gerrard was lamenting about Saka.
I think we have had that topic before though.
Shoot! I didn't know. Thanks for this.
My pleasure
🤗
I know the issues of pictures are being faces by many. I always try to narrow it down by searching, clicking on images, selecting the three lines and clicking on usage. That usage, I select creative commons which narrows it down for me to select images that are free. I hope this helps someone out there.
Free sports images are very few out there. One needs to dig very deep to get them.
That's right. I am always very careful too. I might design one too to save me the stress.
I once suggested we talked about how and why we chose the club/ team we currently support.
I feel we'll see so much originality in this topic.
My suggestion.
