Don't Be A Dick

Over the last few days there is a trend starting with certain users abusing and milking the system on sportstalk. This is a small group from what I can see right now , but it has to be stopped by everyone on here. I am not one for flagging, but if something is wrong it needs to be corrected.

Investors who are looking to maybe curate and grow the value of the coin will be turned away by these actions. I would like to think we can police this ourselves and the users know who they are. Why risk your account when you don't need to.

Users can be banned from the site for extreme abuse which is great news as protecting this place is important. There is always a few selfish, greedy individuals who try and ruin things for everyone else. Please everyone keep your eyes open and lets stamp out abuse right now and keep this place real.

There is no reason why we can't all grow as a community as we all love sport. I am hoping our trending page will be different and not full of self voted actifit posts either with one sentence. One or two sentences doesn't make a post and will also be up for a possible flag.

I'm hoping that this is exactly what the "1 free downvote" per day after HF21 will be used for.

On Steem it'll be 2.5 downvotes after fork. I wonder if the same will happen across some of the tribes too.

it would be useful to use a sports talk.abuse account to which you can report abuse and immediately ban the platform. I don't know if it's possible

I believe there is a moderator and banning users is a reality.

Agree however everyone should get a warning before a ban.

I disagree with a warning as they know exactly what they are doing wrong. Self voting your own comment regularly is not right and this user has been on Steem for nearly 2 years. They know exactly what they are doing and I know what I would do.

Fair enough if you are referencing a particular case. I do it myself and never did it on steemit but saw everyone doing it here so therefore don't see any reason not to although if everyone agreed to not or there was a penalty for doing so I would obviously not. The whole thing needs to be cleared so I agree with in that sense. People have the same issue with voting bots as well but it is what it is for now until everyone works together

Downvoting some of these abusers too right now.

Agreed. What ever happened to the accounts that exploited at the beginning has anything come of that or are they still active and creating even more power?

I am not sure to be honest. There are one or two that have quite a sizeable account now and upvoting their own comments at 25 000 Tokens a go is not on.

Agree. I vote for my own trying to keep up with these massive accounts otherwise I will be left behind and down the line the stake and votes won't be worth anything and I'm sure most people do it for the same reason. These issues have to be sorted by the creator's but I don't even know who they are and where they have to spend all the money they have made lol

Yep. No-one enjoys flagging (I think!) and now is the best time try and get the shop in order. It's not going to be easy, but if enough larger members step up we have a chance.

This place will die if we don't and a few knobs are not going to wreck it. Hoping by the back end of the week we will be big enough to police it properly.

I will have to go on a downvote spree, feel free to tap me up in private if you see some rampant abuse.

That is too bad that there are a handful of people that are taking advantage of the system. I know you were talking to me about this the other day. I try to make it a point not to upvote myself so that there can never be a question of where my intentions lie. Hopefully curbing this behavior early will deter people from continuing it in the future.

Howdy sir cryptoandcoffee! Oh, I didn't think about the actifit posts, can they count that as sport? Shouldn't be able to if they are.
