Fun Fridays: Having fun at the coast
Hello FreeCompliments community!
This is the second time in November that we have enjoyed an extended holiday. This time the reason is the conversion of Brazil into a republic, an event that occurred on November 15, 1889, and added to the fact that my current municipality was founded on November 14, created the perfect occasion for a mini vacation !
For this reason we took advantage of the holiday and in a journey of more than 9 hours by car, we arrived at the southern Brazilian coast. There, we can enjoy a single day of sunshine, where we were on the beach of Balneário Piçarras.
The children loved the beach, despite the water being slightly cold. However, the heat of the Brazilian subtropical climate made up for it with the sun literally burning the unprepared. Use sunscreen!
In the sand, we decided to do two recreational activities:
- Salt water pool
- Castle with water moat
The pool was meticulously designed to receive water from somewhere stronger, so as to be filled with seawater, having an adequate depth for a child. The width expanded as we dug with our hands, and it ended up becoming a large hole in the sand.
Unfortunately, in a matter of minutes the sea level changed upwards, and we were flooded, which was also a cause for celebration. The children from adjacent families were interested in our construction and started replicating our pool, while a baby thought it would be more prudent to use ours (which was already built) haha!

What caught my attention the most and I'm sure I was the envy of the surrounding parents is the moat! Meticulously dug by hand, the moat is nothing more than the ditch around the castles, which had an elevation bridge. It serves to prevent opponents from approaching walls with ladders and other war machines.
Right after making the castle, which was extremely simple, a single tower and without great details, I used a toy shovel to excavate a rectangle carefully keeping right angles. At the front, I excavated a path for wave water to be diverted to fill the moat. This was amazing!

Olá comunidade FreeCompliments!
É a segunda vez no mês de novembro que aproveitamos um feriado estendido. Dessa vez o motivo é a conversão do Brasil em uma república, fato que ocorreu em 15 de novembro de 1889, e que somado ao fato de meu município atual ter sido fundado em 14 de novembro, criou-se a ocasião perfeita para uma mini férias!
Por este motivo aproveitamos o feriado e em uma viagem de mais de 9 horas de carro, chegamos ao litoral sul brasileiro. Ali, podemos aproveitar um único dia de sol, onde estivemos na praia de Balneário Piçarras.
As crianças adoraram a praia, apesar da água estar levemente fria. Porém o calor do clima subtropical brasileiro compensava com o sol queimando literalmente os desprevenidos. Use protetor solar!
Na areia, resolvemos fazer duas atividades recreativas:
- Piscina de água salgada
- Castelo com fosso de água
A piscina foi projetada meticulosamente para receber água de algum onde mais forte, de forma a ser completada de água do mar, tendo profundidade adequada para uma criança. A largura foi sendo expandida conforme cavávamos com as mãos, e acabou se tornando um grande buraco na areia.
Infelizmente em questão de minutos o nível do mar sofreu uma variação para cima, e fomos inundados, o que também foi motivo de festa. As crianças das famílias adjacentes se mostraram interessadas em nossa construção e começaram replicar nossa piscina, enquanto um bebê achou mais prudente usar a nossa (que já estava feita) haha!
Já o castelo de areia não foi realmente o centro das atenções, pois ele era apenas no formato de um balde de brinquedo.
O que mais chamou a atenção e tenho certeza que fui alvo de inveja dos pais das redondezas é o fosso! Meticulosamente cavocado à mão, o fosso nada mais é que a vala ao redor dos castelos, que possuíam ponte de elevação. Ele serve para evitar que os adversários possa se aproximar dos muros com escadas e outras máquinas de guerra.
Logo após fazer o castelo, que ficou extremamente simples, uma única torre e sem grandes detalhes, utilizei uma pá de brinquedo para escavar um retângulo cuidadosamente mantendo ângulos retos. Na parte frontal, escavei um caminho para as águas das ondas serem desviadas de forma a encher o fosso. Isso ficou sensacional!
