The good, the bad, and the ugly from Week 8

The San Francisco 49ers continued their dominance over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football with a 30-24 victory. Neither team was overly impressive in this Week 8 matchup due to the multitude of injuries both organizations had to deal with, but when all was said and done things ended up falling in San Francisco's favor.

It's difficult to know where the Cowboys will go from here. They are sadly not a good football team right now and even the reinforcements they could be welcoming back in the coming weeks may not be enough to turn their season around. But, that's probably a topic better left for another day.

Today, we are going to take a look at some of the good, the bad, and the ugly from this Week 8 matchup between the Cowboys and 49ers. Unfortunately, there was probably more bad and ugly, but there was a little bit of good sprinkled in here and there as well.

THE GOOD - WR CeeDee Lamb

You hate to see it come in a losing effort, but it was really good to see WR CeeDee Lamb have his first 100-yard receiving effort of the year. He finished the night with a season high 13 catches for 146 receiving yards and even found the end zone twice. He and Dak Prescott have struggled with their connection in the early portions of the 2024 season, so it's really good to see them finally sync up and show what they can do when they are on the same page. Hopefully it continues from here on out.

THE BAD - Dak Prescott's INT's

The Cowboys are not a team who are good enough to win games when they lose the turnover battle. That was never more true than this Week 8 matchup with the 49ers. Dak Prescott's two interceptions directly impacted the outcome of the game in favor of the 49ers. This is his third consecutive multi-INT game this year and already has a total of eight INT's in 2024. This isn't the type of play you expect from the highest-paid player in the league and it can't continue to happen if Dallas wants to win many games this year.

THE UGLY - Donovan Wilson and Dallas' defense

Despite missing several key starters on Sunday Night Football against the 49ers, the Cowboys defense put together a very solid performance, if not an inspiring in this Week 8 matchup. Unfortunately, Donovan Wilson's coverage ability, or lack thereof, against TE George Kittle over shadows what should've been a good night for Dallas' defense. Nearly all of Kittle's six catches for 128 yards and one TD were with Wilson in coverage. Mike Zimmer may want to rethink matching him up with TEs in the future.
