Similar to the Belgian League and the previous European Championship, I am covering the World Cup with Previews and bets to increase my personal discipline.

World Cup 2022 Betting Plan

I am by no means an expert when it comes down to international football but I do have the experience when it comes down to betting which I value more when it comes down to being able to beat these markets. That said, I am staying cautious and won't bet the same stakes as I do on the Belgian League.

I do intend to watch every match and try to find some good value mostly by what I read pre-game and what I see in-game. I haven't put an exact number on it yet but I'm willing to lose a couple of units and the average bet size on my main betting account over at Sportmarket Pro will likely be somewhere between 0.05 units and 0.4 units max. The odds available are always top-notch which makes it so that even when flipping coins the expected loss will be limited.

Euro 2020 Recap

The great thing about keeping a blog is that it's easy to look back at previous events like Euro 2020 learning from that experience. I went in with a similar expectation back then and came out seeing that there was for sure an edge especially early on kind of regretting not having had bigger stakes. Near the end I lost a lot of what I won early on still ending with a +1.67% ROI after 110 Bets. What mostly made me profitable was avoiding the trap of going with bets based on my feeling (favorites and overs) while also mainly just reading the market. I aim to do things in a similar way now.

So to anyone that plans to follow or take what I write seriously, be warned that it's very high risk and most of all do your own research. That being said, here is the preview for Day 1 along with some Tournament bets.

It has not been the best week so far with just shy of -1.5 units lost and things could have gone a lot better yesterday as there was a 1 unit bad swing on a bet that always easily should have won while there was also a 0.6 unit good swing on a bet that very likely was to lose. Sunday will be the final day before the world cup break so here are the previews...

Tournament Bets

I only took 2 crypto bets against Cameroon who I don't expect much from in one of the most difficult groups with Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia. I took 20 USDT on Cameroon Last in the Group @ 1.560 and 10 USDT on Cameroon Group Points 0 @ 4.0 both taken on Betfury.io who are offering a lot of tournament prop bets on their bookie. More than anything these are fun beer bets

I also already took a 6000 XFUN bet over at xfun.bet on Belgium vs Canada Both to Score @ 2.211

Qatar vs Equador

Hosts generally do well in the first match of the Tournament and the early stages of the tournament tend to be quite tight as many teams most of all don't want to lose their first match. Qatar (Ranked 50) is a team that has been created with many naturalized players over the past years since they got assigned as hosts. They had a long preparation period playing multiple friendly matches in the past months. They won the last 4 against Albania with 1-0 (#65), against Panama with 2-1 (#63), Honduras with 1-0) (#80), and against Guatamale with 2-0 (#118). Before against Chile who are ranked #29 they took a 1-1 draw while against Canada who are ranked #41 they lost with 2-0. Equador currently is ranked #44 and they stand out in very low-scoring matches. Their last 3 against Iraq (#74) / Japan (#24) / Saudi Arabia(#51) they all ended their matches with a 0-0 score. The matches before that all ended with 0 or 1 goal. The under bet is the most logical but it also has been beaten down from 2.50 odds to 1.930 on the under 2 line. I did go ahead and take a 0.05 unit trading position on Under 1 @ 5.407. My only other option is to back Qatar as the underdogs mainly because I don't trust them not being able to buy this game knowing that they already bought a team and bought the World Cup to host. If the odds would go up to 1.80 or more for the +0.5 line I likely will bite and take a tiny bet on that.
