Sorare.com | Building My First Rare Cap 240 League Team!
I have really grown to enjoy the Sorare Fantasy Football NFT Play2Earn Game last year. This combined with player prices that crashed and the 50$ guaranteed payout each time your team scores 250 points or more made me take the step to also get into Rare Cards.
Strategy
When I first got into Sorare, my main strategy was not so much to play the game with an eye on getting a high ranking and win prizes that way, it was more aimed toward picking up cheap players to potentially sell for more later down the line. This didn't exactly work out even though I managed to finish 12+ times in a prize-paying Spot.
The difference between Limited and Rare cards is that there are 1000 Limited cards of a player released each season and only 100 of Rare copies. When I started out, there was no threshold for limited competitions which got added later on and actually made it way more realistic to at times get good rewards with limited investment. Reaching 250 points in the Limited Cap 240 League gives 5$ in ETH Payout. By the ned of the season I managed to reach that almost weekly while my cheap team that wasn't competitive at the start of the season at times also managed to get there.
With the Rare Cap240 League paying out 50$ in ETH for reaching 250 points, it should be possible to reach that at times also with a limited investment in the game when having the needed luck. That is pretty much my goal for the coming season. Build a small team of relatively cheap and what I believe are underpriced players (Total ~500$) and occasionally ship 50$ in ETH while having a lot of fun with it and the potential also for player prices to increase. I aim to get 1 Goalkeeper, 2 Defenders, 3 Midfielders, 2 Attackers all playing in the Belgian League. The great thing about Cap240 is that bonuses don't count so there is no need to worry about that as it gives a rather big advantage to whales in the regular leagues where prizes are paid purely on rankings.
First Rare Card Buy
The Goalkeepers by far are the biggest bottleneck and difficulty in Sorare and they can get really expensive. For the average 1st goalkeeper in a low-mid-ranked Belgian team with no European Football, you easily pay 350$-400$ right now at tanked prices and there is always the risk that they no longer are 1st goalkeeper next season which would tank the price.
The first Rare Card I had my eye on was an affordable goalkeeper and my bet is on Warleson form Cercle Brugge, he has been with the team for multiple years always falling short to being the 1st choice as Monaco which they are a sister team of first sent Didillion and last year Majecki. Warleson stepped in at the end of the season as Majecki got injured and did well to the point where he got an extended contract with an eye for him to become the 1st choice in the 2023-2024 season. So while there is always the chance that Monaco yet again sends a goalkeeper over, I do see it way more likely that Warleson who is loved by the team and the fans to fully get his chances. If I'm not mistaken, both Vincent Kompany and Hein Vanhaezebroeck in the past also kind of had their eye on Warleson. At the age of 26 he also has plenty of years left in the tank.
So the bet that I'm taking for my Rare Cap 240 Main Goalkeeper is Warleson who I managed to pick up in an auction today for 200.84€. It would be nice if he was confirmed to be the 1st choice next season which should increase the price quite a bit. Otherwise, I will be left with a benched goalkeeper which is a gamble I'm willing to take.
I initially wanted to go as high as 0.1 ETH but there are some others that have their eye on the situation so I went out of my way paying 0.11 ETH (~200€) pretty much out of fear of missing out otherwise. Cercle Brugge should once again be a mid-table team that doesn't get in trouble and their coach isn't playing a kamikaze style that gets a lot of goals against.
Second Rare Card Buy
I've been scouting the market a bit with an eye on multiple Rare card players to possibly pick up which I believe are affordable enough. One of those players is Ashimeru who was one of the better and more reliable players in Anderlecht last season under coach Riemer. While I don't expect a big revival of Anderlecht, Ashimeru should have his place in the team and on average score 50 points or more. He is now 25 so plenty of years to go. I did pay 0.0275 ETH or 47.67€ for him which feels quite affordable compared to many other rare card players who nearly aren't putting up the same statistics.
This right now puts me at 2 out of 9 player positions filled for my Rare Team which includes what should be by for the most expensive one.

Total Rare Card Investment: 248.51€

Conclusion
I highly look forward to the 2023-2024 Season in Sorare and will be scouting the market for potential good affordable players to complete my Rare Cap240 team and hopefully win some prizes making it profitable on top of the fun. If anyone is interested in joining me, a Limited team for the Cap 240 Leagie that has a chance to get prizes already can be gotten for as little at 20$ while there is also a Free2Play option with real prizes in Sorare. Wow @costanza , making big strides for next season!
The addiction is real and quite high :)
So much fun this game
The game has undergone a drastic change in its gameplay and left me very confused, however we now have base players to be rostered for teams, this is interesting from the old traditional that you could only put players already obtained.
