Playoffs Week 3 Sunday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, and injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

I was back at home in time yesterday for the football matches and managed to do ok in them without anything more. Sunday will be another full day of football and here are the previews of the matches that will be played...

Antwerp vs AA Gent

Antwerp so far has been the weakest team in Playoff 1 and they recently fired their new coach Ulderink with an eye on possibly attracting Vanhaezebroeck. The question remains if there will be a shock effect today as overall their performance has just not been good enough. They are in direct fight with AA Gent for the 5th place which will give 2 matches against the playoff 2 winner for European Football while they still are in the race for the 4th place with Anderlecht. Last week, Antwerp got totally dominated by Brugge in the 1st half and were allowed back in the match in the 2nd half which might have given some confidence. AA Gent so far lost 4-0 and 0-3 from Union and Genk both in matches where they didn't play bad but simply gave it away in a short period of time. I do consider AA Gent as a team with actual a decent form and ok performances. It however remains an away match against a team who dropped their coach with plenty to play for. I still give the benefit of the doubt in this one toward AA Gent as too big of an Underdog. I took 0.3 units on AA Gent +0.5 @ 1.829 as a draw would not be the end of the world for both teams.

Kv Mechelen vs OH Leuven

Both teams still are in the race for Playoff 2 and Mechelen after the first week has come out as one of the favorites to win in. So far they won 5-2 from Dender last week and 2-2 away in Standard which is making them in one of the teams who just go for it creating high scoring Playoff 2 matches. OHL has been average all season with an ok defense but difficulties to score goals. More is needed from their coach to keep his positions and it looks like playoff 2 is used to play a bit more forward. I'm expecting today for Mechelen to be the better team but for OHL to also go their chance. Odds seem to be set very much on the regular season where OHL was an under team. After the 2-2 away in Westerlo, I was willing to take 0.15 units on Over 3.5 @ 2.960 as very high scoring matches even from Under teams are never far away in Playoff 2. The -0.75 line on Mechelen seems about right. A low stake high odds bet on over corners is also an option

Club Brugge vs Genk

This is the first match in Playoff 1 between 2 of the 3 strong teams who stand out with a lot on the line. I still see Club Brugge as the team with more overall quality especially in big matches but they so often screw themselves over while Genk certainly have it in them to put up a great performance today. in that regard, the -0.75 line on the home team just feels big. A draw would not be a bad result for Genk while a win would put them at 6 points and very comfortable with 7 more games to go. Overall I expect both teams to come out with a high work ethic and energy which might not make for the best match. I took 0.15 units on 1H Under 1.25 @ 1860 & 0.1 unit on Under 3 @ 1.810. I also see a situation where both possibly would settle for a draw at the end and given that I see -0.75 on brugge as too big of a handicap, the draw is tempting and I took 0.1 unit on Draw @ 4.083

Dender vs Standard

Dender so far played a good Home game but a poor unmotivated away game. They are last in playoff 2 and don't really seem to have any ambition to win it so it remains the question of this time again the home factor will be key. They started that last time against Westerlo with an open eye but once they made the 1-0 things were closed down in defense and they were less willing to go forward. Standard played a 2-2 at home against Mechelen where they only had a slight interest to go forward and the number of goals were exaggerated. last week, they lost with a 1-0 score against a slightly better Charleroi in a match where they only created 0.27 xg. So I can understand why the line is set at 2.25 goals in this one. I however can see a start of the match where teams just go for it playoff 2 style but if Dender takes the lead it might just stay at a 1-0 score. My eye is on a possible 1H over bet or Dender 1H +0 but I need to see more first. No Pre-Game Bets
