It was quite a solid Saturday which also was plenty of fun with matches that had some edge on it that I managed to get. I'm at around +0.7 units on the week so far so everything left to play for with 4 matches left. I'm highly looking forward to Sunday!
Antwerp vs Beerschot
This is one of those matches where I didn't overanalyze things. Beerschot just clearly is too weak for the 1st division right now and their best Player Verlindend also likely out. They only took 1 flattering draw in the fist match followed by 7 losses and are 0.5W-6.5L-1P against their Asian Handicap indicating they they aren't valued properly yet on the Betting market. Antwerp is 4W-2.5L-1.5P against their handicaps and have gotten less points compared to what they deserved. It's a derby with a big quality difference in favor of the home team who also has the momentum with 2 wins in a row. Anything but a clear home win would be a major surprise and I took 0.450 units on
Antwerp -1.5 @ 1.852 along with 0.134 units on
Antwerp -2 @ 2.470. It is a derby and Beerschot were talking of boycotting the match which at one point made it so that there was talk of away fans not being allowed. However, there should be some extra precautions. Something like 2-0, 3-0 or more is the more likely outcome in this match for me.
Union vs Kortrijk
Union played a mid-week match away against Fenerbahce which they lost with 2-1 but they actually weren't bad. The main angle for me now on Union is the 1st half over corners as these systematically go to at least 5 each match. Their main problem remains to finish chances and score goals as their offense is a lot weaker compared to last season. Fatigue might be an issue today but I do kind of expect things to regress to the mean for Union as they aren't a relagation candidate while they are only in 13th place now. Kortrijk took an ok draw last week away against OHL and they also lack the sheer scoring quality while not always being as secure in defense. The way things are right now, they are one of the main candidates to end in a Playdown spot even though they aren't that bad and not that far of from possibly getting in a good streak. My only real option is to side with the underdog but I'm not quite yet willing to trust Kortrijk. Kortrijk is 5W-1L-2P on the under this season but 3 of those came in their home matches. Union is 6W-2L-0P on the under. Given how both have clear offensive issues, I did take a cautious 0.25 unit bet on
Under 2.75 @ 2.028 along with 0.05 units on
1H under 1.25 @ 1.793. 6 out of 8 Kortrijk matches so far went to 12 corners or more while Union hasn't had a match yet that went below 9. So an over corner bet certainly is an option.
AA Gent vs OH Leuven
AA Gent hasn't impressed yet so far this season even though they managed to take quite some points. In the mid-week, they played against Cercle and it simply wasn't good. In my notes it says that they are running out of luck and are expected to get goals against while there is a difference between home and away matches. Kums is still injured and there might be some kind of rotation to rest players with an eye on the match against Chelsea. Overall right now, AA Gent is a team I'm looking to oppose and despite the good results they are only at a slight positive against their asian handicaps. OHL remains a team that I see capable of doing good things and they also have a very strong bench. I like to back them as the underdog which they are today. I took early 0.3 units on
OHL +0.75 @ 1.855 and also 0.1 unit on
OHL 1J +0.25 @ 1.932 and should have taken more as the odds dropped a lot by now. What kept me cautious was the home advantage which still seems to be a thing for AA Gent even though they has a flattering 2-0 win against Mechelen in their last home match. OHL has been the highest corners team going 7W-1L on 10 or more corners in their matches, AA Gent is more neutral there. I do also expect OHL to play a counter-style game and AA Gent maybe not wanting to overly take risks.
Cercle Brugge vs Sint-Truiden
Cercle finally took a win in the mid-week match against AA Gent which was fully deserved. It however feels inevitable that they will lose matches regularly as there is a busy schedule with the Conference League while they simply haven't got the same quality compared to last season. Their style of play demands everything to be at 100% which they just aren't going to be able to do. Stvv tookd a 6 on 6 after they had a coach change taking in Mazzu. They won with 0-3 against Beerschot last week which isn't the reference while they took an undeserved 2-1 win the week before against OHL. Generally Mazzu is a coach who puts importance on defense first. I don't expect a wide-open match here and took a cautious initial 0.25 unit bet on
