So far this has been a week with not that many bets or volume mostly taking some bets that I believe are winners without a big edge which turned out to be winning. I'm up close to 1 unit and want to first of all make sure that I end with a winning week if possible increasing the earnings a bit today...
Club Brugge vs AA Gent
Brugge played a good match in the Champions League arguably being better than Dortmund in the first 60 minutes yet still losing 0-3. In anything, in the past weeks they showed what they are capable of but the question remains if there is a fatigue problem today or if there is going to be some rotation. I stick to the idea that they should be head and shoulders above the other teams and be like PSV or Feyenoord trashing many of the smaller opponents by 5+ goals. After 4 wins in a row now they are in 3rd place and along with Genk they are the team that has the best form. AA Gent so far hasn't been impressive and they were lucky last week to get away with a 2-0 win over Mechelen so they still managed to take the points this season, especially at home. Both teams have been correctly valued on the Asian handicaps while the total lines have been set on the high side. I have a lean on Club Brugge to win this one and don't think Gent wants to make this into a wide-open match. I took a cautious 0.2 unit pre-game position on
Under 3.25 @ 1.909 and will see where it goes in-game.
Kv Mechelen vs Cercle Brugge
Mechelen has not played bad but also not great which put them in 13th place right now. However, the midfield is very packed and just 1 win more would put them in 7th. Their main trend is that they have crazy matches at home with plenty of goals (5-2 / 1-3 / 2-4) while they play on the counters away resulting in (2-0 / 0-1 / 0-0 / 1-1) scorelines. Cercle so far this season showed to not be good enough defensively mainly after some key players left. They only took 4 points and can't handle the European load with their play style which hasn't been as intensive as last season. So overall they have the momentum against them since their defense is so shaky while the offense isn't fully running yet. Just now this morning when it clicked that the +0 line on Mechelen is good enough to take, it has been bet down to -0.25 which feels more correct. The only option left it to bet the over given the Mechelen home over reputation and the poor defense from Cercle. I do believe that the visitors will at least start out with more focus on not giving anything away and I believe it will be possible to get better odds in-game. So for now I'm just playing the waiting game.
No Pre-Game Bets
Genk vs Dender
Genk right now is a team to watch with good players, a good coach, no European Football load, and most of all good form. They came out playing good against Anderlecht last week taking the deserved win as the underdog. They also are complete and can count on their entire team. Dender started the season great playing good pressure and taking the needed points to possibly help them stay in the league.However, the inevitable regression to the mean has started with 2 losses in the last 3 matches while still taking a win against Beerschot who are just poor. They have been the best so far in matches where the opponent is taking the initiative where they can play their pressing game and come out on the counters. They did in the past finish and score above 100% which has cooled down. I see this as a match where Genk should have enough quality to dominate and score multiple goals while it's not unthinkable for Dender to get one on the counter. I liked the odds enough to take a smallish initial bet of 0.3 units on
Genk -1 @ 1.867 with an eye to possibly take more in-game. My notes also say to oppose Dender on the 1H corners which is what I did with a 0.33 unit bet on
Genk 1H -0.5 Corners @ 1.647 and a 0.171 unit bet on
Genk -1 corners @ 1.840.
OH Leuven vs Kortrijk
OHL has been one of the revelations this season and they easily could have taken more points so far. They lost undeserved against Stvv last week and also deserved the win in the draw early on against Beerschot. Overall they are a team that I'm looking to back especially when they are the underdog. Today against Kortrijk though they are the -0.5 favorite. The visitors have not been that good but also not bad and their main problem remains to score goals even though they do have some quality in offense. It's a team that is quite hard to put your finger on as at times it really doesn't look that bad while at the same time they also don't really deserve much more than what they got. This is a match where both OHL taking an easy win or Kortrijk taking the surprise away win would not surprise me. What does stand out is that both combined are 11W-3L against the Over 6.5 corner line. I don't think it's going to be a match were both crawl back an the main question is if Kortrijk is going to be able to finish chances. I'm leaning toward the over and the over corners line. I will wait for a 2.25 line and the 10.5 corners is just too high to be worth the risk. Right now,
