Pretty tight odds yesterday in a low-scoring match where Union was much closer to winning. The average level right now in the Belgian League also clearly has gone down compared to previous years. I'm hoping for better matches today and tomorrow.
Beerschot vs Stvv
Both these teams started the season poorly and can be seen a relegation candidates. Beerschot more so as they so far have looked like the weakest team in the league and they only took 1 point in 7 matches. This match pretty much is a do-or-die for their coach as a loss means he will be fired. They are one of those teams who at times often when they are behind already don't look that bad but overall it's clearly not good enough. Stvv was in a similar situation after they sold their entire team but things improved a bit after some of the Japanese players came back from the Olympics. They already had a coach change which instantly translated in a win last week classic Mazzu style with focus on the defense and a flattering 1-goal difference win. However, this should give a lot of confidence also because they are unbeaten in the last 4 matches. So overall, I see Stvv as the better team who picked up positive momentum and I don't see them as the underdog given the circumstances. The odds are good enough for me to take the gamble even though I also would not be surprised if Beerschot in this type of match would finally take a win. I took just 0.2 units on
Stvv +0 @ 2.03 with an eye to possibly take more in-game. A total Beerschot collapse scenario would not be a surprise. Likely the home team will try to take the initiative going forward while Stvv likely will stay closed in defense and try to get some goals on the counter.
Westerlo vs Antwerp
Westerlo started the season great with offensive football which also resulted in getting goals against. However, they lost offensive quality with Madsen and Stassin and gained some defensive quality with Bayram. This mainly resulted in their xg dropping quite a bit and being without a win in their last 4 games. I do expect them willing to play forward today at home against Antwerp who also tend to play forward. The visitors had a start not playing bad with multiple occasions where they could have taken more. They do generally have a style where the play open with forward intentions while at the same time lacking scoring power. So I'm expecting a fun match to watch with the danger that the defense is just a bit better than the offense which keeps me away from a possible pre-game over bet at the current line which is set at 3. I would also not be surprised to see some corners in this match, Westerlo at home so far always had 11+ corners however all against non-top-teams including 2 of the high scoring early season matches. Antwerp on the season is only 2 on 7 on 10 or more. So for now,

Anderlecht vs Charleroi
Anderlecht so far had the results but they heavily relied on luck and the quality of play just wasn't there. This resulted in their coach who had been under fire for a long time being fired and Hubert temporarily replacing him while they are looking for a proper replacement. The main complaint was that the play was too defensive-minded so I would be highly surprised if Hubert tried to build a wall today. Charleroi is in a positive momentum sitting quite high in the xg ranking while low in they have a lowest xg against in the league. Heymans and Zorgane are also in good form. My lean originally was on Charleroi +0.5 but this was before the coach change. Now the line seems to have moved against Anderlecht as Vertonghen is still injured and Augustinsson along with Dreyer are also out. I have a lean on the Over and Charleroi Team total Over but I'm just waiting to see what happens in the match. Charleroi also tends to crawl back in case they take the lead which isn't optimal and the coach change angle is not one I really like to oppose.
