Betting still remains a struggle right now as the coins aren't really dropping in the right way. I'm still keeping my stakes rather small keeping a low profile patiently waiting for things to hopefully turn around. Not all too much betting action yesterday and overall only a limited loss. Also on for the Sunday matches I don't have too many leans or ideas let alone bets. There are 3 what could be seen as top matches today along with 1 match between teams who likely will fight against relegation...
Club Brugge vs Cercle Brugge
Club Brugge at times have shown that they have the potential to be the most dominant team in the league but it rarely last long and usually falls flat to the point where they give it away as they lack the real drive to win and keep going. This makes them a team where based on quality difference they get really soft lines while at the same time so far they are only 0.5W-3.5L-1P against the asian handicap this season. With coach Hayen on board I have a really hard time trusting them anymore. Cercle Brugge has qualified for the Conference League and had a week break while playing with a B-Squad in the mid-week so they fully should be ready and I expect them to bring very high intensity from the start. This season they have been a team with way more goals both scored and conceded. Their xg for in the first 4 matches was 1.91 on average and against it was 1.78. This also reflects in the total line which is set at 3.25. I remember a match a couple years back where they played very high intensity against Brugge and where it ended in a 2-2 score and 17-4 in corners for them. They did play as the home team while it's the same station in that match. Last season they played 0-0 away with 10-3 in corners and 1.44xg-1.24xg, while at home they played 1-1 with 0-4 in corners and 0.34-1.30xg. My main angle on this one is to wait and see how it plays out and if Cercle plays very high intensity to possibly oppose them late in the match if they get tired.
No Pre-Game Bets
AA Gent vs Antwerp
AA Gent Qualified against a weaker team for the Conference league in the mid week but have picked up that extra fatigue and overall they just haven't been all too convincing yet. They also lost Fernando Pardo. They won at home with a 4-1 score against Westerlo who totally gave the match away in a couple minutes. Away, they lost not undeserved to Charleroi and they also lost the home match against dender with 1-2 which could have been a draw. Against Kortrijk in week 1 they took a flattering 0-1. So they haven't really played away any team or gotten crushed by a team but more often hand matches that could have gone both ways. They are at 6 point which is the same as Antwerp who played 1 match more. Antwerp did lose Keita this week which is making it so that they are now playing with half a team who used to be benched last season. Their new coach plays more offensive compared to last season which leaves them vulnerable at times defensively. They also in the same match tend to have highs and lows. Last week they deserved the draw at home but it ended in a 0-1 loss against a good Mechelen. They weren't great against Club Brugge away but again a draw instead of a loss would have been deserved. In week 3 they crushed a poor Stvv with 6-1 while the week before they were the better team at home against Anderlecht while they still ended up losing that match with 1-2. This leaves them with 6 points which could have been a lot more but maybe also not. The pattern is clear that they put up decent performances but still end up failing to win against the better teams. The +0 line at even money does really make me lean to AA Gent but at the same time it kind of feels like a trap line and I'm not really looking to back AA Gent right now. AA Gent has been over at home but under away while for Antwerp this is the other way around. Antwerp has yet to lose a corners matchup this season while AA Gent won their matchups at home but lost both away. What it comes down at is that I have no clue what to thing about this one.
No Pre-Game Bets
Union SG vs Anderlecht
The main trend for both these teams right now is that they lack the needed creativity on the midfield to really make the difference. Anderlecht is on top of the standings despite systematically poor performances that somehow always end in a win for them as they do have some individual talent and also luck on their side. Union this season clearly took a step down and doesn't look like the team they used to be in the past years. They didn't get further than a 0-0 away against stvv and overall this season took 8 points with only 1 loss. Both teams are not flawless defensively but at the same time create too little. I do expect Union to be really fired up for this match and bring the intensity. However, the line is fully adjusted to the point where I'm even considering to bet Anderlecht. I did take 0.4 units on
Under 2.75 @ 1.934 just based on the fact that both have shown a clear lack in creativity which hasn't been solved yet. Purely based on the odds Anderlecht +0.5 should be a no brainer but my intuition says union will show up today and bring way more intensity. I won't hesitate to trade out of the pre-game bet if I don't like the match picture.
Kortrijk vs Sint-Truiden
Kortrijk so far this season has been rather disappointing and I expected more. Their match against Charleroi away last week was weak and they were unable to push when they needed to late. The match at home against Standard started out with low risk and a red card for the opponent in minute 35' which in the end helped them to get the win. In week 3 they took a deserved loss away against Dender showing too little in offense and defense. Against Cercle away they took a 1-2 win in a coinflip match while they did deserve more in week 1 against AA Gent. Stvv now is 2nd last in the standings with 2 points from draws in their last 2 matches against Union (home 0-0) and Dender (away 3-3). The weeks before with many missing players in a team that saw all key players transferred they took 0 on 9 without chance and plenty of goals against. So it does look like they improved. I expect Kortrijk will try to take the initiative and can see the -0.25 line and 2.5 total as correct.
