Saturday could have been way better than it was and a lot keeps depending on very small differences in balls going in or not and most of all yesterday 1 corner more or less. The grind continues today with 4 matches.
Dender vs Club Brugge
Dender made a really smart move to make sure they were ready for the season starting their preparation early while most other teams still were searching and waiting for transfers. This has paid off massively for them in their fight against relegation as they already have 8 points while they are 3W-0L-1P against the asian handicap. They also have had the fortune with them since every half a chance went in so far. They play defensively on the counter. However, things remain as they are and their budget still is one of the lowest in the league so it can be expected that other teams who are improving will catch up to them. Club Brugge has taken the opposite route starting the league really badly similar to last season with what looks like a lack of drive while they have by far the best squad. They did manage to take their first win last week but it still wasn't that good which makes it hard for me to trust betting them as the -1 favorite. What I expect from this match is for Dender once again crawl back and try to get out on the counter hoping for the high finishing % to continue. Club Brugge should be the team that takes all the initiative and especially if they don't score early it should result in multiple corners for them. I took 0.4 units on
Club Brugge 1st Half -0.5 Corners @ 1.695 with an eye to possible increase on this. I also took 70 USDC on Club Brugge 1H -1.5 corners @ 2.140 and 30 USDC on Club Brugge 1H -2.5 Corners @ 3.45 over at Solcasino as crypto bets.
Sint-Truiden vs Union SG
Stvv has been the team that was least ready for the start of the season resulting in a 0 on 9 and a point last week at home against Dender in a match that ended in a 3-3 score while the xg was 1.57-0.89. By now, stvv has more players back and no injuries but their coach is close to getting fired. It remains hard to properly estimate this team. Union lost Puertas who was their key player and started the season with a strong indication that they are unable to continue to strong form they showed in the past years. Pocognoli was under fire as the players don't really seem to like his style but the narrow 1-0 win last week over Charleroi which was not undeserved even though the match could have ended in a 0-0. Offensively they simply don't look good enough this year as the departure of Amoura/Nilsson left them with a lot less quality now. Burgess and Sykes are still injured and Teklab was added to that list. At the moment, they are not the team I'm willing to back which is the same for Stvv.
No Pre-Game Bets
Standard vs Beerschot
Standard so far this season is the team who have had all focus on defense getting only 1 goal against which has come at the cost of not creating anything as they are just at 0.49xg on average each match. Their problem is that they lack quality and need to do it with what they have. If they would make a switch to trying to play more forward, this for sure will come at the cost of getting more goals against. I don't think much will change since what they do now is kind of working given the circumstances. Beerschot is one of the main relegation candidates and they are 3nd last in xg at just 0.85 on average each match. However, their weakness is that they do try to play forward which resulted in an average xg against of 2.13. They last their 3 previous matches getting 12 goals against. I do believe this defense will be their main working point today. I expect Standard to think if we keep the same defensive stability, when should be able to score against Beerschot and win. While Beerschot might think, we are up against a team who can't score so we will try to fix the defense making sure not to get a ton of goals against this time. I took 0.262 units on
Under 2.75 @ 1.986 yesterday sharing it on the SBC Discord. by now this has moved to a 2.5 line which seems more realistic. I will keep it at this for now.
Charleroi vs Kortrijk
Charleroi so far took 2 wins and 2 losses with 3 of those matches with a 1-0 score. However, those 3 matches were against good teams while they did win with a 1-4 score against Stvv which is the reference I take for this game today. In that match they put up an excellent performance and were willing to really go for it taking the initiative from the start. Once they got the lead, they did crawl back a bit. being up 0-4 before the break, they played with the handbrake on and in auto pilot in the 2nd which made it a 1-4 FT. I do expect a similar start from Charleroi today fully going for it willing to take the initiative. Kortrijk is also a team with 2 wins and 2 draws and they actually could have taken more points. They tend to be most dangerous on counters and their defense hasn't always looked best. Their coach also seems to be willing to go kamikaze at the end of a match when needed. I did take a cautious 0.25 unit bet on
Charleroi 1H -0.5 corners @ 1.850 just because I expect they to come out with full force similar to the match against stvv. The fact that Kortrijk created 9 and 13 corners in their last games holds me back though but that makes me lean on the corner over. I also took 0.2 units on
1st Half over 1 @ 1.900 as I don't expect a study round or defensive approach from both. I'm hoping this one will have some more nice in-game betting opportunities.
