Jupiler League Week 21 Saturday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, and injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

So far so good in 2025 slowly but surely grinding out around 0.5 units of profit in the 5 matches that have been played so far. I'm still hoping to find some good value and take bigger bets but for now I just remain cautious. 3 Matches on Saturday to have a look at and I'm really looking forward to another football weekend.

Westerlo vs Sint-Truiden

Westerlo despite the fact that they failed to get a win in their last 5 league matches (all against good opponents) actually did not play horrible. They still aren't in the flow they started the year on and dropped all the way back just above the playdown spots. Their main issue is that they get too many xg against which makes it that they need to score too many goals themselves to take the win. At 3.68 xg combined in the last 3 matches on average they are near the top of those standings and on the season they also have been an over team. Stvv also is in a bad streak as they failed to win in their last 6 league matches while they also played a mid-week cip match which they lost with a 0-4 score. They are in the playdown spot 4 points below Westerlo and also have a rather high combined average xg in the past 3 matches at 3.67. I think the high xg numbers influenced the line a bit too much and I would not be surprised that this one starts out in a way where fear to lose is bigger than the will to win for both teams. I was willing to take just 0.25 units on 1H Under 1.25 @ 1.960 which feels slightly too high. If the match pictures shows me wrong I will opt out of it. If my hand was forced I would go with stvv +0.5 as I can see it going both ways but I generally don't like to bet on teams with a bad form. Both teams created quite some corners in their previous matches. Westerlo on average is at 7+ in their last 6 and stvv on average is at 8+. So if this counties it should be around 14. I might take an early over bet if there is no corners and if odds move quickly at a high number as a gamble.

Genk vs OH Leuven

Genk has not been the best in the last month but they still have the potential to be a team who puts down great performances. They did win in the cup with a 0-4 score against Stvv where they also got plenty of chances against as Penders had his work playing an excellent match. In the last match before new year away against Antwerp they arguably deserved more than a 2-2 so it does look like they have picked up their form again and they are complete today also with a strong bench. OHL hasn't changed much after their new coach came as they still can put up a ok defense while they have worthless strikers which once again showed in the cup match against Club Brugge where they always should have scored at least 1 goal ending up with a 3-0 loss. They still miss Verstraete in the defensive midfield. I do expect Genk to win in the end but it might not come quickly or easily. So I'm just opting to wait and see to possibly get a better line and odds. Right now it all looks quite sharp. No Pre-Game Bets

Charleroi vs Union SG

Union has shown good signs in the past month with strikers who started to score again but in the cup they simply fell short against Antwerp losing with a 5-1 score and they need to put things straight today. Charleroi has show that they have quality but at the same time really failed to really convince despite winning 3 of their last 4 including away in Antwerp where Union just got trashed. If they make the first goal they tend to crawl back instead of keep going and many of their wins come with just 1 goal. I do expect a match with 2 teams willing to go forward and took a cautious 0.16 unit bet on 1H Over 1 @ 1.946 to start off with. I also will be keeping an eye again on the over corners and on the FT over as it's close to a 2.25 line which feels more based on the Union from some time ago who couldn't score a goal and were very secure in the defense.
