As every week, I'm starting pretty much from zero aiming to find valuable betting spots to hopefully end with a profit at the end. The 1st of 13 matches to handicap is played today in Round 2 of the group stage of the Champions League between Porto & Club Brugge.

FC Porto vs Club Brugge

Fc Porto (245M) is the team that came from Pot 1 which is the strongest in the Group stage draw while Club Brugge (161M) came from pot 4 which is the weakest. The team player base value gap isn't that big though. Porto is 3rd in their league with 5 wins and 1 loss keeping 4 clean sheets. Last week in the first group stage match away against Atletico They narrowly lost with a 2-1 score with all 3 goals coming after minute 90. They did manage to create more goal attempts (9-17) and create more corners (2-6) in that match while the score was at a draw. Club Brugge on the other hand took a surprise 1-0 win last week in the 1st Group stage match against Bayer Leverkusen (476M) in a math that could easily have ended in a draw. In the league they are now 3rd with 5 wins in a row all against smaller teams. The fact remains that they are just too strong for the average Belgian league if they reach half of the form they are capable off. This was an issue at the start and they still aren't fully playing up to their potential yet. I'm also not sold that their coach Hoefkens makes players better or makes a difference tactically. My initial thought was to back the draw at 4.8+ odds or Club Brugge with the handicap just because on paper the gap between these 2 teams should not be that big since Porto can't be compared to the real big teams like Bayern or Manchester City. However, I do feel like this could be one of those highly deceptive matches where the gap is bigger than everyone expects. Right now I see Club Brugge as a team that can be backed in the Belgian League against smaller opponents but Away against a team like Porto with 40k+ loud fans behind them is something else. So basically my bet will be to stay away from this match for now and see what happens in-game. Porto needs to win after losing in the first week of the group stage while Club Brugge is still missing Mata in defense. No pre-Game Bets
