Belgian Cup 1/8 Finals Tuesday Previews

Time for the Belgian Football to get going again and I'm looking forward to handicapping all the matches that are left in the season. Tonight starts with 5 games from the 1/8 finals of the Cup. Each match has a very outspoken favorite and I will remain rather cautious when it comes down to pre-game bets as it's been a while since the last match and the overall weather conditions also are a lot colder these days. So just some brief thoughts on the matches...

AA Gent vs Cercle Brugge

AA Gent will be pretty complete with most players fit aside from Kums who is Suspended and Tissoudali who has a long-term injury. AA Gent traditionally is a solid cup team and they were in a good streak before the world cup break. Cercle Brugge also is a team that went on a big winning streak after their coach change but in their last 3 matches were less convincing than the 4 matches before that. AA Gent is the favorite but I wouldn't say Cercle is without a chance. No Pre-Game Bets

OH Leuven vs Kortrijk

Kortrijk has gotten themselves inside the relegation battle which will have priority over the cup most likely. OHL started the season great pretty much overperforming which was followed by some regression to the mean but a great last match. I see OHL as the better team that most likely has put more priority on the cup which makes sense for them to be the bigger favorite. I don't expect Kortrijk to just throw this match so the +1 handicap might be a bit too big, at the same time I don't trust them right now. No pre-Game Bets

Union vs Oostende

Union continued to be one of the better and more attractive teams in the league this season rarely to never having an off day. There is no real reason why this break would have made any change to this. Oostende had one of their worst performances of the season in their last match losing 6-0 away against Westerlo. They are above the relegation zone not safe but also not to the extent that they will throw away this cup match. The -1.5 line on the home team makes sense and I'm not really willing to back or oppose it.

Kv Mechelen vs Seraing

Kv Mechelen since Defour took over has shown excellent mentality which also resulted in points. Only in their last away match against Charleroi they put up a bad performance. They did get lucky to win it with a 0-5 forfait score despite being 1-0 behind as Charleroi Fans revolted too much). Seraing is last in the league losing all 5 of the perivious matches and I would not be surprised if they had their priority more on the league. I do expect a high-intensity start from Kv Mechelen and was willing to take a 0.2 unit bet on Kv Mechelen 1H -0.25 @ 1.810 with an eye on maybe taking some more. In their last 4 games they on average had 14.75 corners while Seraing went over 11.5 in their last 3. Depensing on how things look, I might go for an in-game over in corners.

Antwerp vs Standard

Antwerp had a great start of the season mainly because they had exceptional finishing. They did however fall back once that slowed down putting them now in 3rd place in the league. They are missing some midfielders today and aren't at their strongest. Standard has been a weird team af they clearly lack some quality but still managed to take a lot of points doing well especially at home against bigger teams. This match will be broadcast live. I do see the -0.75 line as too much for Antwerp but at the same time I don't trust Standard especially away from home. I don't expect a wide-open match from the start in this one and feel like the total line is set too high especially on the 1st half. I took 0.172 units on 1st Half Under 1 @ 2.222 and 0.096 units on 1st Half Under 1.25 @ 1.720

Conclusion
