My Actifit Report Card: July 7 2023
Today was my last day at the gym before going on a cruise with my family. I wanted to squeeze in one more workout to burn some calories and tone my muscles. I know I’ll probably gain at least 15 pounds on the ship, with all the delicious food and drinks they offer. But hey, it’s a vacation, right? I deserve to treat myself after working hard all year.
I started with some cardio on the treadmill, running for 30 minutes at a moderate pace. I listened to some upbeat music to keep me motivated and energized. I felt good, sweating and breathing hard. I checked my heart rate monitor and saw that I was in the fat-burning zone. #winning
Next, I moved on to some strength training. I did three sets of 10 reps each of squats, lunges, deadlifts, bench presses, bicep curls, tricep extensions, shoulder presses, and lat pulldowns. I used moderate weights, not too heavy or too light. I wanted to challenge myself but not injure myself. I focused on my form and breathing, feeling the burn in my muscles. I checked myself out in the mirror and noticed some definition in my arms and legs. #progress
Finally, I finished with some stretching and yoga. I did some basic poses like downward dog, warrior, tree, and cobra. I held each pose for about 20 seconds, feeling the stretch in my joints and tendons. I also did some deep breathing exercises, inhaling and exhaling slowly and fully. I felt relaxed and calm, ready to face the day. #zen
I showered and changed in the locker room, feeling proud of myself for completing my workout. I checked my fitness app and saw that I burned about 500 calories and logged about 10,000 steps. Not bad for an hour of exercise. #goals
I grabbed a protein shake and a banana from the juice bar and headed to my car. I drove home, humming along to the radio. I was excited to pack my bags and board the cruise ship tomorrow. I couldn’t wait to see the ocean, the islands, and the sunsets. I also couldn’t wait to try all the different cuisines, cocktails, and desserts they had on board. I knew I would indulge myself, but that’s okay. I worked hard to earn this trip, and I worked hard to stay fit and healthy. A little splurge wouldn’t hurt me. Besides, I could always hit the gym again when I got back. #balance
