Una vez más la loba de Mourinho se encuentra en una situación adversa en competiciones europeas, esta vez en la Europa League, el segundo torneo más importante a nivel continental. El equipo de la capital de Italia perdió en su visita a Austria la semana pasada y ahora le tocara remontar en casa para llevarse la eliminatoria. Este escenario no es nuevo para los romanistas, sin embargo en anteriores ocasiones había paridad en el marcador, en esta oportunidad las cosas varían un poco ya que tendrán que ganar 2-0 si quieren despachar a su rival en el tiempo reglamentario, de hacerlo por la mínima irán a tiempo extra, y en caso de quedar empatados en los 90' minutos se marcharan de la competición.

Analizando un poco el partido anterior, a Mou le estaban saliendo las cosas bien a pesar de que sus delanteros fallaron goles en dos oportunidades claras, una de ellas protagonizada por Tammy Abraham y la otra por el “galo” Belotti, claro está no se puede desestimar el esfuerzo del portero rival que sirvió para mantener su arco en cero pero sin duda fueron ocasiones donde ambos delanteros habrían podido definir mejor. Algo que llamo bastante mi atención fue la alineación que los dos técnicos propusieron, un esquema táctico diferente por no darle otro nombre, el Salzburg jugo con 4-1-2-1-2 mientras que la Roma con 3-4-2-1, lo que tuvo como resultado un partido muy llamativo.

La posesión del esférico fue ligeramente superior para los de casa, no espere que la Roma propusiera tanta lucha por el esférico y tiempos largos de control, por lo general Mou juega mucho al catenaccio, pero al no hacerlo y manteniendo la presión en la mitad de la cancha logro neutralizar al equipo austriaco por casi todo el encuentro. Nicolás Capaldo quien juega de extremo y proviene de Boca Juniors fue quien marcó el gol de la diferencia al minuto 88, justo después que el portero Kohn había tapado un disparo de Belotti; este tanto fue suficiente para que los de casa sueñen con dejar a los italianos fuera de carrera en la vuelta.

Something that caught my attention was the lineup that the two coaches proposed, a different tactical scheme to give it another name, Salzburg played with 4-1-2-1-2 while Roma with 3-4-2-1, which resulted in a very striking match.

The possession of the ball was slightly superior to the home team, I did not expect Roma to propose so much fight for the ball and long periods of control, usually Mou plays a lot of catenaccio, but by not doing so and keeping the pressure in the middle of the field managed to neutralize the Austrian team for almost the entire match. Nicolas Capaldo, who plays as a winger and comes from Boca Juniors, scored the difference in the 88th minute, just after goalkeeper Kohn had blocked a shot from Belotti; this goal was enough for the home team to dream of putting the Italians out of the race in the second leg.

En el Olímpico por la épica / At the Olimpico for the epic

Hoy en día todas las remontadas son consideradas épicas, no importa quien esté jugando, cuando un equipo remonta es algo bastante admirable y en el mundo del futbol es un escenario sumamente llamativo y emocionante. En Italia solo se espera una cosa, y es precisamente esta, que la Roma logre remontar su eliminatoria. ¿Podrá hacerlo? Es una pregunta interesante, pero a juzgar por lo que vimos en la primera entrega y el historial del equipo austriaco en Italia es bastante posible que se pueda lograr. No será para nada sencillo porque el Salzburg juega bien, tiene jugadores como Capaldo que son insistentes en el ataque y pueden hacer daño, pero su defensa no es muy buena, quizás por allí la Roma si juega con tranquilidad pueda aprovechar las oportunidades que seguramente tendrá.

El pasado fin de semana en el juego contra el Hellas Verona mostraron muy buen nivel, tanto ofensiva como defensivamente, la salida de Zaniolo no se hizo notar mucho pues el joven delantero noruego Ola Solbakken ocupo su lugar y tuvo un desempeño muy resaltante, no solo por anotar el gol que les daría la victoria sino su rendimiento en general, tiene un buen desmarque y es veloz, ese día disparo cuatro veces al arco y fue un problema para los defensores, de hecho el gol que marco fue con la defensa encima, pero mostro una solvencia y agilidad mental para definir con rapidez, hizo lo que tenía que hacer y estoy seguro que jugara de titular contra el Salzburg.

Por último y para concluir, la Roma tiene muchas posibilidades, su mayor problema es la inconsistencia, un tema que toque en un post anterior, pero a nivel general son un equipo sólido y si pueden superar sus limitantes en cada línea pueden ganar sin muchos inconvenientes, el Salzburg intentara anotar para sentenciar la eliminatoria y eso va a generar oportunidades que el equipo de Mou tendrá que aprovechar, es un partido que tendrá tensión y quien marque primero posiblemente se lleve el pase a los cuartos de final.

It won't be at all easy because Salzburg play well, they have players like Capaldo who are insistent in attack and can do damage, but their defense is not very good, maybe that's where Roma if they play calmly can take advantage of the chances they will surely have.

Last weekend in the game against Hellas Verona they showed a very good level, both offensively and defensively, the departure of Zaniolo was not very noticeable because the young Norwegian striker Ola Solbakken took his place and had a very outstanding performance, not only for scoring the goal that would give them the victory but his performance in general, he has a good unmarking and is fast, that day he shot four times at goal and was a problem for the defenders, in fact the goal he scored was with the defense on top of him, but he showed a solvency and mental agility to define quickly, he did what he had to do and I am sure he will play in the starting lineup against Salzburg.

Finally and to conclude, Roma have many possibilities, their biggest problem is inconsistency, a topic I touched on in a previous post, but overall they are a solid team and if they can overcome their limitations in each line they can win without much inconvenience, Salzburg will try to score to seal the tie and that will generate opportunities that Mou's team will have to take advantage of, it is a match that will have tension and whoever scores first will possibly get the pass to the quarterfinals.
