Torrents Departs To Turkey
Arsenal continues their summer clear out following up the £8 million sale of Leno with another £7 million sale of Torreira. Both these signings were worth well over 20 million when they signed for Arsenal and are both walking away on cut-price deals and that is the nature of Arsenal they are awful at working the transfer market.
The Uruguayan international signed for 26 million made 89 appearances for us after joining from Sampdoria in July 2018. He was part of our FA Cup final match-winning squad in 2020 and his goal in the 4-2 north London derby win at Emirates Stadium in November 2018, those were his highlight and once Unai left so did Lucas.

Torreira spent the last two seasons away on loan in Spain and Italy. In 2020/21 he was with Atletico Madrid, where he made 19 league appearances in the team’s La Liga winning campaign.
The 26-year-old midfielder spent last season with Fiorentina, where he made 35 appearances in all competitions during his time with Serie A side.
Fiorentina wanted to sign him but refused to meet the fee in fact they wanted him for free, while Valencia was also keen but didn't want to shell out the bucks.
Eventually Galatasaray were man enough to stump up an offer and even though it's not the move Lucas wanted or the fee Arsenal wanted, it's better than having him sit on the beach and take up wages for no reason.
