Chelsea Hand Arsenal A Lifeline Towards Third

Chelsea FC is in a state of flux, there is loads of disruption as the club verge of a sale. Representatives confirmed that a deal had been struck with LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly. They also have one eye on the FA Cup final and in a bid to secure silverware this year, they cannot go full steam and risk losing key players as they play Liverpool.

Lukuka put Chelsea 2 up with 30 minutes to go but Wolves rallied back and scored in the 96th minute to secure a vital point and rob Chelsea of keeping their gap on Arsenal.

Chelsea is now down to 67 points and Arsenal is on 63, if Arsenal wins against Leeds tomorrow it will cut their lead to 1 point, if Chelsea slips up with another draw or loss, Arsenal could leapfrog them into the third spot.

A win is not a given as they are in a relegation scrap so they have everything to play for and need that 3 points to avoid the drop.

Bagging third place for Arsenal will mean they avoid the playoff to get into the champions league and go straight into the group stages. As an added benefit there would be more money for a higher league finish and that can help secure better players to improve the squad.

Since Arsenal have no silverware to compete for this season, they can throw it all at pushing for 3rd a spot they should have had if they didn't lose 3 in a row to mid-table teams.
