Mikel Keen To Bring Santi Into The Backroom

A lot of what's going on at Arsenal has been on the field as well as in on-field recruitment but little has been made of how we improve the coaching staff. There are only so many players you can buy and you need to get the most out of them.

Mikel has been great with ball retention and defense which is his natural game, but in terms of creativity and going forward Arsenal still doesn't have that cutting edge and you can see the players lack ideas at times.

Bringing in someone who can work with the players would be a welcomed additoin to the backroom staff. If there is one player who would be able to do that then it's former gunner Santi Cazorla.

The issue is Cazorla is still playing and refuses to retire from football, having lost a few years to injury. He currently plays in Qatar for Al Sadd and has just helped guide the team to their second successive league title.

The former Spanish international and creative midfielder has been linked with a return to Arsenal once he hangs up his boots but this remains to be seen.

Arteta hawkish on movie

Arteta insists him and Santi Cazorla have not spoken about a coaching role yet.

‘I haven’t discussed anything like that with Santi,’ Arteta said on Thursday when asked about the prospect of Cazorla returning to Arsenal.
‘Of course, if you ask anyone in this football club or any supporter about Santi they’ll probably have a smile on their face.
‘I don’t know, he’s still playing, I don’t know what he wants to do but I’m sure it’ll be related to football because I know him well.
‘All I can say is I spoke with him on my birthday [March 26] but we didn’t discuss that at all.’

Personally I'd love to see Santi back at Arsenal I am sure he would be able to get the team ticking going forward and show them what it takes to bring silverwear to the club.
