Arsenal Considering Costa

As Eddie Nketia and Alex Lacazette wind down their contracts and Auba with only 18 months left and keen to move on Arsenal are in a pickle when it comes to strikers. They have Moller, who is 18, Balogun who is 19, and Martinelli who is also 19. Nelson, 21 who is on loan can also play in a forward position but there is a clear lack of experience up front.

Arsenal has been keen on Jovic of Madrid and Dusan Vlahovic which seems to drag on until the late stages of this window, which I don't see happening due to the fees they want so looking for alternatives is a priority as the window draws to a close. Arteta needs to turn his attention to the Premier League-proven striker, even on loan.

There are rumors that the Gunners have reached out to Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro to find out about the availability of 33-year-old Costa. It's not the first time Arsenal have signed a senior player and former Premier League player from Brazil, with the last one being Pablo Mari, who looks set to move on to Udinese in this window.

The move for Costa is clearly just a cover move and to give additional options as Arsenal look for long-term replacements. Given his age he may be a gamble with injuries as Costa is a pretty physical kind of player, so it remains to be seen if a gamble like this could pay off.
