En un momento de completa irregularidad, el Chelsea de Enzo Maresca visitaba al estadio de la gaviotas con una cierta sensación de venganza, ya que entre semana, el Brighton los eliminó en la FA Cup con un resultado muy parejo, pero pese a esta previa, donde incluso el técnico italiano de los Blues demeritó el trabajo de su contraparte local, el Chelsea se llevó un goleada y un baile, que lo podría alejar de los puestos a Champions League si el Newcastle o el City consiguen los 3 puntos en esta jornada.

El equipo de Maresca demostró nuevamente su irregularidad de cara a portería, en el primer tiempo apenas produjeron un gol anulado por falta previa de Enzo Fernández, y en la reanudación, la dinámica no cambió.

Así mismo, el Chelsea está sufriendo una ola de lesiones, donde se han caído jugadores importantes como Nico Jackson, que aunque no es el mejor definidor, su faceta como armador de juego es indispensable para que sus compañeros consigan más espacios arriba.

El Brighton por su parte estuvo muy filoso, en la primera ocasión clara Mitoma mandó a guardar el esférico luego de un pase de su portero Verbruggen, y ante la marca de Chalobah, se lo quitó de encima con el control y un amague hacia dentro, que venció al portero con un disparo al segundo palo. Los demás goles vinieron por parte de Minteh, que como carrilero con alma de extremo, llegaba constantemente a línea de fondo, mostrando su capacidad resolutiva en el área en esas dos jugadas, donde tenía varias piernas por delante, sobre todo en su primer gol, pues el esférico le quedó en una posición algo complicada.

Además, este par de victorias le vienen muy bien al estado anímico del equipo, pues hace 15 días recibieron la peor goleada de la temporada, cuando los Tricky Trees les metieron 7 a 0 en el The City Ground.
