Rainy day lichen day on Black Mountain : March 29 2025
The big rain forecast arrived during the night. No riding as it was forecast to be really soggy. We did the stay at home thing most of the morning. Then we headed out to Manuka for shopping and lunch
A modern church with an even more modern hall behind with the same roof line
Manuka has a series of small arcades that join the three streets that arc around. Makes for easy wandering when it is raining. Pick an arcade - walk through - go up a few shops and cut back in the next one. I did find the shoe shop selling my wife's favourite shoes - she got a new pair identical to the ones she was wearing. No longer to be found In Sydney - the old ones will go to cobbler for rebuild.
We had a simple lunch in a Malaysian Chinese restaurant - one of those formica table types - food was good.
Walked past this bar called Oh No. Tickled us as my wife's grandson says it a lot
Did the shopping for dinner at the same supermarket we used the day before - great food displays
Still raining - did the umbrella walk from the caravan park. Have stayed here a lot - easy walk out the bottom of the park into Bruce Reserve
The kangaroos posed - always to be found down here
Crossed the main road into Black Mountain Reserve - 🌂 up all the time. Was hoping to see orchid leaves - been too dry for that. Next week after these good rains

Walked up a little higher to see if a bit of elevation would bring orchids - none - new theme needed
Two types of lichen - maybe this
Ant mound has wiped this little tree out
Lichen it is - shades of green
Rock based - tree based
Back to bark as the theme
Fluffy lichen - too much light for good focus
Not seen this type before - small hollows like the bowl of a teaspoon
Scaled over a twig. Makes this a lichen day
Walked up to camp kitchen for drinks and to cook our dinner later. This is what these weekends are all about - social time with people with similar passions. Not talking about the upcoming election

The raindrops on the spider web look very beautiful, if you took a closer shot you would have seen this beauty. 11k Steps count today, great. That's commendable.
It is what caught my eye. Wrong camera for close ups. This one will not focus close - need to step back and use zoom.
