First 2025 greenhood orchids on Blackbutt Creek : March 12 2025

Grey day. Slow start after late night doing IM stuff and waiting for US markets to open. Did see some green shoots in uranium and nuclear and made a few buy the dip trades. Cannot say my heart is in what is going on. Withered the morning away - was going to go shopping - decided not to

Went walking down to Blackbutt Creek to look for orchids - house for sale a few house down the road. Back of the house has been modernised into a mansion

View from the front of the old style house - nicely preserved

Photo from the edge of the golf course suggests a theme for the day. Mushrooms - clue about location - asparagus fern weed from the gardens and the golf course

NSW coral tree flower - only noticed the bugs on editing - 4 ants and a 🕷

First of the sharp greenhoods in Sydney for the season - not seen them in this part of the track before

Side on - just see the labellum poking out - pterostylis acuminata. Spent some time teaching a jogger about orchid spotting here - she liked the idea

Budding form

Did find chiloglottis orchids. Lots of flowers open where photos did not work - next orchid lesson - two leaves opposed on the ground

A slightly out of focus chiloglottis - probably seminuda

Part of the walk plan each time is to recce what is coming - chiloglottis leaves close to Kiparra Street walk

Last over of the mission was to check progress on the nodding greenhoods - looks the same as last week

Maybe this is the one I saw last week - small nodding greenhood - pterostylis hispidula

A good walk. It was hot and humid and I was dripping - job done - orchids found and only one leech on me

Showered and then walked to shops to get soup stuff for my wife - she is still sick

Dinner: Wife is still on soup. Made chicken pasta with a bit of tomato sauce and paprika - spicy nice
