Seven Mile Beach NP autumn orchid recce ride : March 7 2025

Gotna chance to head down south today for a few days. Weekend forecast for Sydney is iffy with the storm creeping onto the South Queensland and Northern NSW coast. Also need to corral my camping and cycling gear for an upcoming Riverina bike trip. Were on the road at 9:30 aiming to be in place for a midday meeting. Did not quite make it with sone heavy rain on the way.

Weather down south was dry - got the bike out to ride and walk. A bit of a recce walk to see what orchids are shaping up. The iconic Australian native violet to get the theme going for the day - got purple

Acianthus orchid leaves starting out - no buds today

Tiny mushroom just wanted to grab the light and kill the colour saturation

Pea flower - starting to get a theme for the day - small flowers, the colur purple

Greenhood orchid leaves - found a few in places not seen before. Maybe more to do with not having walked these bits - a few sections in the gaps from normal walks - got to work out a track ID tracking model. What have I walked?

Geebung flowering. Leaves looks larger than the pine-leafed version not really noticed the detail thus far in my walks lately

More greenhoods - these have distinctive shaping - look like pterostylis nutans to me. Leaf has a Spiked stem and a more oval shape

These weevils love new green life - it will move soon enough to chomp a bit

First time on a bike for a while - quick out and back. Did walk way more than normal. Walked all the way to the midpoint that I normally ride to. Just enjoyed being out in the bush with the sound of the sea and no jet aircraft overhead

Went across to friends for drinks and dinner. They have been buying direct to home meat - great quality. I cooked - worked really well. Did walk the dog a few times
