Midge orchids in Bomaderry Creek Regional Park : February 22 2025

Day lining up a little differently - my wife decided to drive down. She and a friend are going to a fashion show in Albion Park. Had been planning to walk Bomaderry Creek - was able to do that. Something told me my son was busy

An interesting start - a slender rice flower with only a few flowers

A pine-leafed geebung with also a minimum of flowers

Purple fan flower

Lambertia formosa season is on us

Budding formosa - never noticed this firm before - new life

Banksia flowering

Pale flax lily

Goodenia - proud in yellow

Did find midge orchids - this one was 3 inches tall with a tight cluster of flowers - maybe cross midge orchid - corunastylis ansata

A little closer in

Lots of these flowering - NSW coral heath flower

Now for the next midge orchid challenge. Petals are not as widely spread. Plant is taller and more flowers spread a bit further apart

A struggle photo - praying mantis - it watched every move - allowed me to get a leaf behind for better focus. Still not get a perfect focus on those big green eyes

More difference on the next orchid - longer petals and a bit more yellow

Pink form of fan flower - did not notice the spider when I took the photo. Would have zoomed in to get proper ficus

Did not find the brittle midge orchids - next time. Pleased to find others - possibly two I have not seen

Shopped on the way home

Stopped at Two Figs Winery to pick up wine - photo of the Shoalhaven River from up top

Good afternoon out. Went over the friends for a glass of bubbles. My wife has broken a tooth and decided to suspend dry February. Nice chat. Did an impromptu BBQ for dinner late - worked well - all cooked and ready in 30 minutes from stuff in our house.
