Did find midge orchids - Ku-ring Gai Chase NP : February 3 2025
Steaming up for a warm day. Still took ages to get moving - plan to walk Ku-ring Gai Chase NP looking for midge orchids after shopping - remembered the ice bricks this time
Pine-leafed geebung - got to say I never tire of the delicacy
NSW coral heath flower - pinkish form
Banksia serratum flowering just beginning
Grey spider grevillea
Pink grevillea with a bug
Photo of the day - bug on the Peach-flowered tea tree - really happy to get a photo as the light was bright and it was hard to see anything
White form of the tea tree flower also with a bug
Leptsospermum squarrosum growing across the track
Saw this flash of yellow just two inches off the ground - not seen on this side of the track - first midge orchid of the day - not open enough to ID
More pink form of epacris pulchella
No luck with finding brittle midge orchids today - went down the Kalkari Track to see if midge orchids opening there. Budding - yes - hard to ID but I know from location this is fringed midge orchid - corunastylis fimbriata. The petals have an arch that is different to the other one I saw
Location shot - right next to the track and standing 6 cms tall - spot the yellow top and it is found. Next week for opening
A few pea flowers still going
Spied this popping up above the grass on the edge of the track - a flowering midge orchid - mission accomplished
Always a challenging photo as the flower is maybe 7 mm across the petals and the length a bit more than a match head- thinking Rupp's midge orchid - corunastylis ruppii
Time to head back - banskia serratum flowers in different stages. One stage more than last photo
A bit fluffier for next stage
Mimosa flowering is so delicate
This is the changing of the guard for the orchid seasons - midge orchids up and the last of the bonnet orchids.
Two different plants each with last flower on the top of the spike showing signs of wear.
Good to knock out a new season orchid and 10k steps and fit in the shopping. Was sweaty hot - not the shopping.
Turned into a late night. My wife's Dutch 2nd cousins arrived from the Netherlands. They have been on the road for a while through SE Asia and New Zealand. Now for an Aussie adventure.
Dinner: BBQ for me - my wife is sick.
Trade action: Staying away from tariff craziness - bought EWZ - something out the story.

The epacris pulchella flower is special, very beautiful. Pine-leafed geebung is a different type of flower, very attractive. 10k steps count today, good job
Edits: Fixed a lot of typos. New bug: Create a post in Actifit. Edit it in Hive.blog and the featured image disappears. The hack to fix it. Make a copy of the picture. Add it in using Hive.blog and select it as the Cover Picture. Did that.
