First midge orchids in Ku-ring Gai Chase NP : January 28 2025
Steaming up for a hot day. Plan was to get out early - renew drivers licence - buy some office stuff. The licence was done inside 30 minutes even though the office was busy. They stream different categories. Got the office stuff done quickly too - shop was busy with school kids
Decided to walk a North Turramurra track based on almanac sightings and the track has a lot of shade. Pine leafed geebung to start
Peach-flowered tea tree
Heading into mushroom season
Purple fringe lily - one of a few
Banksia serratum flowers forming
A bit further developed
A context photo for an endangered orchid sight - the green environmentally sensitive site sign and the scribbly gum
No sign of that orchid. Pea flower
Red spider grevillea. Walked the big loop under the powerlines in the sun. Found first orchid buds in the shady part of the track
Budding form
Photo work - first one in the sun and one with a background. Close by was a plant finished flowering - fringed midge orchid - corunastylis fimbriata
Found one more budding higher up. Close up photo was out of focus. Good to find them - they are late
Mushroom action - season is moving along
Snapped a temperature check at the end of the walk - 40C is dedicated. Was hotter ehn I got home
Copped a massive thunderstorm late afternoon which dragged temperatures down 15C. Walked up to shops to get some key things - like alcohol free wine for my wife
Dinner: Macaroni cheese - 2nd time in 2 weeks

Purple fringe lily looks very beautiful to me, I am always amazed by your flower photos and I am inspired by you. Flowers are probably the most beautiful thing in the world.
