Tongue and hyacinth orchids in Ku-ring Gai Chase NP: December 20 2024
A small change of pattern for the day. Have a friend coming over from whom we bought our apartment. She cut my hair. I made coffee. She asked me if I had friends coming over for Christmas.
I have friends but none here in Sydney - events have wiped those out. Too many moves. Can safely say I hate Christmas - will not see my kids - simple really.
My only friend is the bush - my wife dropped me in Hornsby and I cycled out to the bush. This orchid found on the road into the National Park in a new spot - dipodium variegatum
Large mushroom in the same spot. The best part of stopping is one sees other things

Second day in a row finding purple fringe lilies - twins
Watched this orb weaver spider wrapping up its dinner. The size of the abdomen tells me she is full of eggs
Conesticks flowers - 4 on a cluster is a bit more than normal

Tongue orchid - cryptostylis subulata - did not get close in. Focus is on the double veins on the underside

Found a lot more than previous times - at least 4 different site

Was a lot of insect activity - butterflies, cicadas, wasps, bees. Did get this grasshopper to pose

Have walked this track 5 times a year each summer for 10 years and never noticed the NSW Christmas tree this side of the track. It is 10 metres off track and looking down to the Creek
One a bit more prominent - at least 6 trees in flower. Got one at home but it lost all its flowers in a big wind storm a few weeks back
A bit more purple for the day - dampiera purpurea. This one a more intense colur thannthe others seen today - hence the photo
Ride map. Lift to H - ride from there back to H. Then train to G and ride home. Recording from 1 km above H. Tech challenges got in the way
Dinner: Make do
Trade action: With options expiry coming adjusted a few options trades - ASPI, CBK.DE, GDX. Got assigned early on a few - AMAT, GEV, UUUU, UROY.
