Wake to a steamy day forecast to get really hot. The stanhopea tigrina orchid chose to open today a few days early
Intoxicating smell of jasmine heralds the opening - the flower was gobbled by a bug - so it is less grand than normal
Plant was a gift from an orchid mate from 9 years ago. Flowered most years and a lot happier after I moved it out the sun
Stanhopea hernandezia is pushing out flowers too - a while to go
Made the plan to head out a little after 10 am - bike down the hill and walk the river and cycle back
Decided to not cycle down to the river and walk this side track until I found an orchid

Did find the orchid of the day - cryptostylis leaves - did not check leaf backs to know the ID. Turned around here - body not coping with the heat. Get home was the message

And then the orchid of the day - variegated hyacinth orchid - dipodium variegatum - one of two flowers where the side path began - right on the roadway
Turning around was the right thing to do. Could not apply any effort on the ups. Stopped at newsagent for a cold drink. Good thing I can do purchases from the orchid camera.
Took hours at home to stop sweating. It is clear there is stuff going on inside the body that stops any major exertion. Doctor time I am afraid
Dinner: BBQ sausages and salad. Too hot to cook.
Trade action: Adjusted a few nuclear tech stocks - ASPI, LTBR. Bought CDE and AEM as silver and gold hedges

The dry leaves around the green leaves are eucalyptus leaves. They are the same share as the orchid leaves. Always easy to spot the orchids. A green eucalyptus leaf soon goes brown when it falls
Summer heat hits you no matter, years on the coast we always walk early morning stay out of the sun after ten it's been like that a long time.
