Hyacinth orchids from Blackbutt Creek : December 8 2024
Another steamy day. The gurus have been talking about an El Nino summer - long, hot and dry. Not working like that at all. A few cloudy days and a bit if rain and high humidity. Must be an age thing - humidity is killing me. Kept busy on a rainy morning
Went walking early afternoon to walk the other part of Blackbutt Creek. This blue bug was trying to fly off the apartment paths - could not take off. Colour blue is amazing
Gazanias remind me of the home we left a little over a year ago
We have all read about amber - this is how it begins - sap from a tree
Oleander flowering - subtle in pink
Swamp lily - only learned the name this week

Just as I got on the mini fire trail, saw this hyacinth orchid
Blotched hyacinth orchid - dipodium variegatum
Found one further along. We have been living here just over one year. I do not recall seeing them this side

Found a few bonnet orchids - the few flowers around here all had the scrawny look
The more full form - cryptostylis erecta

Found this pink hyacinth on the way back
This becomes an ID challenge. The pink says dipodium roseum. The fact the petals do not fold back says dipodium punctatum
Petals are a bit curled back and they are link - leaning to roseum
