First GCC2024 ride to Seven Mile Beach : October 1 2024

Busy morning getting ready to drive down to Shoalhaven Heads. Got the routine pat by now - unload stuff from the pantry. Empty fridge into esky - cheese, cold meals, fruit, veges, meat for bbq. Pack some clothes and all the dirty clothes and towels. Pack in the computer. Load up and drive - my wife does the driving.

Unpack the other end and fit in a bike ride. Rode a bit further up Seven Mile Beach to walk for orchids and to get Kids Cancer Ride going. Love the big forests after a week in the city

First orchid of the day is a bit tired. ID is hard - maybe caladenia hilmanii

Really struggling to photograph these - the colours just wash out all the detail - pink form of caladenia catenata

Fingers on this one are more stubby and pink is deeper - every ingredient else looks the same

Pink colouring between the calli is different. Everything else is the same

Big tree down

Bands somewhat formed on the column - suggests a hybrid with carnea and catenata

Chose this fallen tree to turn around. Just happened to have this fungus growing with attendant beetles

There was a lot of helicopter action all the time. Navy base is up the road in Nowra - got a photo
