Spring flowers and Norfolk St Killara houses : September 7 2024

Spring is coming even to our little balcony garden. A few photos from there

A tree growing in the bed below pushed it these black spots - they look like berries until you get close - a tiny purple flower with a flash of yellow. About half the size of a US penny - super happy with the photo

Pelargonium has just started flowering

Gardenias are struggling in the new spot. Maybe too much sun and lots of bugs and mould attacks. One is happy to flower though it now has lots of yellowing leaves

The aloe flowering too - first time since the move

And a few orchids - dendrobium kingianum - white form

Pink form

Rock orchid pushing out one flower spike - did not flower last year

Canned the idea of going for a ride - went on a zig zag walk down the hill

Signs of spring - murraya hedge flower

Bluebells - shades of England. No surprise as all the gardens are English cottage gardens

Nasturtiums

A spring look like a lavender but leaf is not right

Walked the length of Norfolk Street - a few houses sold or for sale. Makes a 2nd theme for the day

Stopped by a house that has orchids - a few in flower

This caught my eye - a heron in the garden - took the zoomed in photo

Zoom in to the gate and you will see the heron walking away

And the noticed the for sale board

A bit of modern next door - architect special

And next door to that a run down house with 8 decrepit motors in the yard and street front. That will knock the price off the sale over the road

Yep this one - diagonally across the way

A grand old Killara house over the way

Brush turkey and a grand Moreton Bay fig

Interesting configuration. The creek is canalised directly under this house

American style ranch house on the corner. So quite a mix of house styles in Norfolk Street

And heading back up to the Pacific Highway - apartment block shows what is coming, one for sale and a kookaburra on the for sale board

Opposite is this old style home

In Federation colours. Will be gone to an apartment block when the current owners or their kids sell

Back along the Pacific Highway saw this distance marker. Going to guess it is 44 miles to next town north from years back - Gosford. Sat on the bench and checked Google Maps right away for the old road - 66 kms on current roads. Close enough to 44 miles.

Got the steps done. Body not willing but did them.
