Old English gardens and blue gum walk : September 4 2024
Not had a cold take hold so fast. They normally take 3 days and go away as soon as I prompt the immune system. Not this one - a shocking night coughing and spluttering with a massive phlegm attack. I remembered the Dr McCullough protocol for early onset of Covid-19. It is an airborne virus that starts in the nose - nail it with povidone-iodine. Started that - gargle and apply in the nose with cue tip.
That did help get some sleep. Not a lot of that achieved. But felt a bit more alive by mid morning. Was going to train and walk - missed the train and walked to check a slice of Blue Gum forest in Gordon. A few decrepit English country gardens
A few of those around with the number of old people living here. Cannot keep up with the garden work
Azalea time - part of the cottage garden theme - white
Red
Two tone
Consistent with the theme before drooping into the blue gum forest. Not walked this for a while and never seen orchids flowering
First orchid leaf this side - acianthus orchid leaf
Second leaf - bonnet orchid
View down the track with a fab palm across the whole track
Found this bug on the railings across the creek
Hibbertia
Oxalis escaped from the gardens above
Each walk brings out new things - this on a traffic island. Why notice? Down the road is an oval called Norman Griffiths Oval and his name is on the plaque. A name coincidence as I have a friend with the name in Johannesburg from 40 years ago
There is a seat with this view and the plaque. Going to guess in times past this was the edge of a park - now it is an island
Another plaque in the flower beds close by. In this house was the first meeting of the National Trust. Was surprised it was not that long ago - 1995 minus 50 years.
The house. What were they doing about stuff like this before 1945? Good question.
And while we are on about tricky questions. What is going on in the sky?
Got the steps in body unwilling.
Did cook dinner - beef tacos
Cook up the mince
Serve with cos lettuce, slice tomato, spring onion, salsa, avocado and a little cheese
Read the label - heat me

Yummy foods, beautiful plants🥰
I feel old people should be able to keep up with garden work though
Or is garden work stressful?
It becomes hard work. Bending gets hard. Pushing a mower gets hard. And the interest falls away
Beef taco sounds delicious my friend!!😄
