Fathers Day at the Willoughby incinerator : September 1 2024

First Sunday of September is Fathers Day here in Australia. We had a plan to visit my wife's son for breakfast catchup. We met at their apartment

Ollie handed me a small gift. Turned into a bit of a game as he asked for it back and then handed it to everyone else too.

We walked down to the local park. Ollie loves it down there

Coffee shop is in the old incinerator site

Chimney stack is very much Art Deco in style. Interesting design choice

Read the inscription - built in 1934 - explains the style choice. Got coffee - no breakfast. Did spend 20 minutes pushing Ollie on the swing. It is his favourite pastime in the park.

Found these plants just above the car park. Pushing out long spikes with buds on. No idea what they are

Managed to chop off half the main flower but the bud behind is in focus

Toasted sandwich for lunch. Still no messages from my 3 kids. Walked up the hill to shops to get a few things for a specific dinner. Nice to be able to do that easily. When I bring back a padlock from down south, will start riding up

Did get a Fathers Day message from my oldest son at 4:30. Not a peep from the other two

The specific dinner - pasta, smoked salmon, cream cheese, rocket/spinach leaves. Start with a roux with garlic and leek. Add some milk. Melt in the cream cheese - only needs two tablespoons. Add in the shredded leaves to get them a little wilted

Then toss in the shredded smoked salmon. Turn off heat and mix through with cooked pasta

Serve with a splash of green chopped up stuff - spring onions today - anything green will do like parsley
