Spring orchids in Bomaderry Creek and ride back : August 20 2024

Got a different day lined up. My wife wants to head into Nowra to do some shopping stuff. Also need a few things for the kitchen. Take the bike and ride from Nowra to Bomaderry Creek Reserve and then ride home

First chance to ride over the new bike path over the new bridge over Shoalhaven River

Spied this orchid on the edge of the park just as I turned into the access road. Spotted doubletail orchid - first time sighting

Was hoping to find spring orchids under the powerlines. Too bad the electricity company chose to cut the grass really low just before the orchids started taking shape. A month earlier and a month later would work

Pea flowers there were

There were sun orchids in the deeper bush beyond the mowing zone. Spotted sun orchids without spots

Was good to find a few plants all along the edge of the mowing zone

Took a while to get photos up against the light - good tree framing worked

Following the river theme - Broughton Creek crossing just where it joins Shoalhaven River

Farm for sale not far from the junction - a quiet spot but likely in the flood zone

Was hard work riding back into the wind - a few photo stops of Coolangatta Mountain on the way

Kinda weird as the For Sale sign shows Woodhill prominently. Why not sell it with the local history name more prominent.

Longest bike ride in a while. Good thing it was a little up to start and then down and flat. Tired at the end of that.
