Waxlip orchids and pea flowers in Ku-ring Gai Chase NP : August 10 2024

Slow start for the day after late night watching Olympics. We have guests coming in the afternoon. Got a few things to shop for. Used the opportunity to go orchid spotting in Ku-ring Gai Chase NP in my old haunts. Needed a plan B as could not get into garage where my car is parked. Used my wife's car

Spring is on us - Sydney boronia

Grevillea

Pea flower

First waxlip orchid of the season right in the middle of the track

Matching leaf - not quite in focus

Quite a few patersonia iris open. Normally an indicator for sun orchids

Mushroom season is past - just a few around - this one on a fallen tree

Pink grevillea

Lichen time

Eriostemon with bugs

Bee posed

Wattle flower season in full flow

Blue sky and grand tree backdrop

Hibbertia

Was really a day for pea flowers - this one grows on a succulent type stem

More of a bush version

Purple version - hovea or harderbergia - cannot recall which is which without looking it up

A waxlip in a bushy segment - caladenia minor

Budding orchid - probably a bearded orchid judging by the bracts on flower spike

Did find one sun orchid - bottom flower is not quite open - needs more sun - thelymitra ixioides

Got the shopping done. Our guests cancelled sick.
