New maroonhood and greenhood finds on Blackbutt Creek : July 29 2024

Painters arrived early for the total paint of the apartment. Makes for a change of patterns - started the paint work in my study. Lurked around lounge room all the morning. Made lunch early and walked down to Blackbutt Creek.

Walk goes around the edge of the golf course. Can always rely on finding a kookaburra here. This one was happy to pose

A few spring flowers emerging - NSW coral heath flower

Normally I focus on the uphill side of the track. Stepped this side and saw a bunch of orchid leaves - pixie caps and a few greenhood rosettes

Saw the distinctive shape of a geeenhood orchid - first find of this orchid on this track. I have seen them before further down in Lane Cove NP

Front on view just gets the cleft labellum - trim greenhood

There were a few flowers open - pterostylis concinna

Pixie caps orchid in same spot - acianthus fornicatus

Been walking this track since we moved - chiloglottis orchids aplenty - budding at last. Leaf shape suggests diamond ant orchid - chiloglottis formicifera. Two more weeks. In all the other spots this was the most advanced - more sun

There were a few buds

Mushroom season is done - need more rain

Maybe another colony of greenhoods to flower - leaf is bigger

Been watching these rosettes for a few months - maybe time - had ideas back when. Now is the time to know

New find for the track and first for the season - maroonhood

Side on - pterostylis pedunculata - good find as the other known spot down the road got smashed in Lane Cove NP a few weeks ago

One more clue - greenhood rosette - looks like nutans which are ended

Did find one flower spike - might open in a few days

Good walk finding two orchids for first time on a track close to home

Trade action: Bought ACL.AX, JLG.AX, SASK.V, SYH.V - using down days to add to uranium
