Late flowering painted fingers orchid : July 23 2024

Late night in markets makes for a slow start day. Then start writing up the options expiry trades to get last week investing post ready.

Did get out on the bike to walk the front end of Seven Mile Beach NP. Delighted ti find a painted fingers orchid flowering in a new spot. They always seem to be on the eastern side of the track and facing W
west.

Close up - the red column is a key differentiator - caladenia picta

Was hoping to find nodding greenhoods. Not one to be found in the known spots. There was a lot of leaf debris

Walked the loop back toward the village - budding greenhood - maybe pterostylis curta

Sure was surprised to find this seeded orchid which has survived the track work. It is chiloglottis diphylla late flowering as all the other spikes are gone

The obligatory native violet - always one flowering. Added in the extra loop to find the blunt greenhoods seen last week

The twisted labellum is key to ID. Not the yoke around the neck - divided and not a round neck
